The take-up spool in my recently-purchased FED-NKVD is missing.

The take-up spools being sold on eBay seem to be the sort that fit, and work well with, FED-2's... Zorki-4's... etc. The take-up spool from my Leica Standard doesn't fit tight enough (http://inbothworlds.wordpress.com/2008/03/12/grind-cla-cla-clack/).

What should I be looking for, regarding a replacment take-up spool? Would a "Zorki/FED-1 for spares" sale be sufficient, provided the spool's in with the sale?

I got the take-up spool from FED but this didn't fit in Zorki 1 camera because that fed thing has got inner stick which can be pulled up from the casette. And that thing was taking too much some space to fit in Zorki. So I had to get Zorki spool which is simple and has no inner stick. I suspect that Zorki takeup spool is similiar to old Leica barnacks's ones. I could fit a M3 takeup spool in Zorki but it becomes a bit struggling when I try take the spool out.

I have Fed takeupspool lying not used. I looked how zorki-4 looks like. it seems so that this spool is similiar to fed.

Dave,

All my bottom-loaders (FED 1g, NKVD, 2x Zorki 1 and Zorki 5) have identical spools. They should have 2 pegs on the inside to catch the shaft recesses in the NKVD. The 1g has a different shaft that doesn't need the pegs but mine still has the same spool. Many later models have spools without pegs so make sure you get one WITH.

Thanks for the information, Wolves and Tomasis. Unless I can strike lucky on eBay, it seems the NKVD is a paperweight. :(

I haven't... only eBay, from which I bought a spool designed for "Zorki, FED, 1, 2, 3, 4".

... and which is no different to the spools that fit the short and stubby spindles.

I recently received a MIR that was missing the take up spool. I went to Yuri at Fedka.com. I sent him a picture of the inside and the serial number. He obliged no problem at $12.
