Just a few quick shots to see how this thing works. I have to say, so far I'm very happy.
These were all at f2 and f2.5. Kodak 400UC, scanned and converted.

Looks like that camera is working real well for you, Steve! I'm looking forward to seeing more of your shots as you continue to use that Hexar AF.

Shoot first, think later
Nice shots, Steve (and not a shabby scanning job, either

Thanks guys,
These shots don't make any big statements...but I think they show I'll be able to get as good a shot as I am capable of. It'll be about my shortcomings, not the camera.

Just one more thing: Steve the pic in your avatar is great! Every time I read a message from you I look for a moment the avatar, it's very expressive, lovely pic.

Thanks very much. Kind of you to mention it.
That's an I-26 lens on a fed-2 in very low light. My younger son with my wife.

I like your photos a lot. The camera does give Leica results, in my opinion, and is still smaller than most kits. I had one for a while and I loved the photos. I was all thumbs with the ergonomics and decided to move towards another camera system.

Nice Steve, definitely seeing some of the Nikkor 35mm f1.8 in the wide open shots. What more could you need?

Thanks Sirius,
I like mine enough that I'm considering losing my R3A, which I only use with the Nokon 40mm anyway.

Very nice results. Must admit I'm becoming intrigued by this little gem.

The best camera is one that still works!
Very nice results and Hexar AF prices are climbing as we muse!

Ditto: like the photos a lot, Leica-like results, I was all thumbs with the ergonomics. I sold the Hexar last week to another RFF member. Too much kit, not using it enough, and couldn't justify keeping the Hexar and the G1 - which has the AF/AE/autoadvance bit covered as well as the Hexar. OK it's noisier, but the much-mailgned VF is no worse than the Hexar's IMO - I wear glasses and the diopter correction on the G1 is a help. And that Zeiss glass (21, 45 & 90) at less than half the cost of the ZM stuff...
Still, I know I'm going to miss the Hexar.

Ok, let's not all go out and get one at once. I want to keep the prices down...may want a second one.

My current rangefinder kit consits of a Leica M6 with 35m Hexanon F2 UC (sameish lens as the AF), and a 35mm Nokton for lowlight back up,
and then I have a hexar AF for a backup body or for use with the HX-14 flash in clubs/when drunk.
Both bodies work well together

What's the drinking age in the UK?
I might need the flash...even though I'm seldom drunk anymore.

In theory 18, but in reality much younger
The hx-14 flash is actually quite good, its small, and although it cant bounce or anything fancy, you can use it in aperture priority mode and shoot at f2 on 400speed film and get good results (i.e the flash knows to tone down at larger apertures.)
This can be nice for party portraits a la

The results are really nice looking, Steve. Well done.
It happens that the Hexar AF Silver is the camera that I have been using for the past 5 days. It is so convenient to have a light camera with a super sharp lens with AF and Program mode.
