I just found this thread (I'm new to RFF) and I can honestly say that now I don't feel so bad. It'd be nice to have one of each of the formats - compact/p&s; Bridge/Ultrazoom; SLR; Medium Format; Rangefinder...but the budget won't allow.

I currently weigh in at 6:
Panasonic LC1 (A wonderful camera)
Panasonic FZ7 (A work camera that I use to cover our events & concerts)
Leica D-Lux 3 (carry everywhere & travel camera)
Leica Digilux 3 (Versatile & highly underrated in this & other forums)
Pentax K-1000 (Bought for university photography classes)
Leica M5 (just arrived this week)

Recently retired:
Canon Powershot G2

(Hopefully) Future Acquisitions:
Leica M8 or Epson R-D1

:-( or :) I' not shure......
BUT; it's all my Canon's since 1960. From Canonflex, via A and F series, to EOS analig and digital

Guess who's my favaourite.......

scroll down to...

Canonet QL17 GIII.... nice lady, hm?

I've only started using/buying film cameras for about 8 months now, but they seem to accumulating quicker as time goes on. So far i have over 20 film cameras, all of which i use regularly.
I just noticed today that i have 11 Olympus cameras.
Many of which are doubles (I'll but different film in each one). As in i have 2 SP's (back and silver), 4 OM bodies, 2 Mju:II's (Stylus Epic), and 3 Trips.
Then i'll just buy anything in general i see thats working for less than $20, so i have many others such as my Vito BL, Petri 7, Yashca GTN, etc..
So far i havent outlayed too much money, but got some decent cameras, but i'm a little worried now as it seems like im starting to get interested in Leica's, especially the M2.
Hope i dont get Leica GAS. I'm still only a student, and it looks as though photography is going to send me broke :(

I've just voted (less than five)... then thought, hang on... there's that old one, oh yes, and then that one.... lol... I should have voted less than 10.

4 that I use:

Nikon D200
Nikon F3P
Leica M2
Leica M6

and 2 that I just have from my family:
Nikon F
Minolta XG-M

Much like my own lineup

D200
F3HP
Nikkormat Ftn
Leica M2
Currently looking for an M6 (1000 bucks or under)

But if we add camera's I've owned it becomes much greater.

Speed Graphic
Fm3a
Kiev 88
Blad 500C
Canon A1
Canon AE-1
Canon AL-1 (? something like that)
Balda Baldix
Canon G3
Bessa R

I always recycle cameras and lenses to get new gear, I figure if I buy a camera and sell it for ~50 to 75% of what I paid for it than it was like I leased it, over the 2 year average lifespan of a camera in my posession then the cost:month breakdown is pretty good. BTW can you tell that this is the same line I use on the wife? :)

I used to have a bunch. Then I sold a lot of stuff. Now I have

Leica M7
Leica M8
Pentax K1000 (that I have no lenses for)
Yashica 124G
Canon A700

I used to have a Canon 20D and a Canon Elan 7n and a Bessa R3a. But I sold everything and the lenses to pay for the M8. I also had a Pentax K10D, but that got stolen from my car. My perfect kit would include a digital and film rangefinder that uses the same lenses, as well as a digital and film SLR that uses the same lenses, a medium format film, and a point and shoot.

I hope to replace the Pentax SLR with either a Canon or Nikon kit. And the Point and shoot with a Canon G9 or Ricoh GRDII. And the Yashica TLR with a Mamiya 7II or RZ67.

I don't own more than one lens for any focal length. Nor do I need more than one type of camera. I just like having the right tool for the job.

i have more than 150 photo cameras (plus 10 movie cameras and about 30 various accessories).
can you explain me what's the meaning of the answer "are you kidding" on the poll?

I have never counted but now I'm in horror :)

Leica M6
Leica IIIa (G)
ZI
Bessa R2
RD-1s

I would assume they didn't expect any serious collectors to show up. I have less than 20, so I was surprised to see how many had more than I do.

you are right,never enough!
every camera is pretty in it's own way.
when i started, the number 100 was like magical,
it was my goal.
now i am going for the 500!or maybe for the 1000!!!???

I wrote:

2 Olympus SLR bodies (incredible, but I prefer RF now), one Minolta TC-1 (incredible for what it is, but too limiting for me), then RF: a Zorki, a Leica iii that I don't use

In the meantime, I'm down to my 2 OM bodies & the Zorki. A Ricoh GX-100 has been ordered. Pruning a camera collection feels *good* ! I seem to be suffering from a rare form of reverse GAS :D
