I made a picture where my worn-out fixer made a haze over a window in the shot. Thru the haze, outside the window, is a ghostly face peering into my house. So I thought I had a ghost until the kid's parents confirmed that I had a picture of their six- year old son (who happened to be around at the time), haha.

Have you seen the color pictures of "ectoplasm" floating around (haha) on the Internet? Looks like it could be worn-out fixer to me, but I don't know what that looks like on color film.

My wife and I went to Gettysburg a few years back. Lots of people photograph "Battlefield Orbs," and I happened to get a few photos.

However, I don't think this is ghosts. I think it is a light rain with a flash from my digicam. Cool, though.

Older, I don't know about new AF P&S film cameras had 'trouble' with fog, mist and light rain. So I had many 'ghosts' in Central America.

That spots could be also dust. Since the sensor on digicams has so much DOF, and the flash is so near to the lens, quite often dust particles look like snow flakes.
Usually this happens in interiors, so those should be rain drops.

The "orb" thing is now passe in the sprit photography arena for the exact reason you mention.

I have a couple of pics of people walking down the street who look, hm, lets say otherworldly. Gotta dig in my negs some time.

As I was reading your thread I half-remembered that a photo I liked very much for that sort of thing is none other than your 'Marked'. I hope you don't mind, I am posting a link for those who haven't seen it before

I took this with a Canon P+S in New York back in 2004. I have no idea what it might be. I was not aware of any glowing objects at the time. No other shots from that day, or ever, have anything remotely like it. It still freaks me out a little when I look at it. In addition to the "lightning bolt" notice the odd glowing shape in the upper right corner.

Have you seen the black and white pictures of "ectoplasm" floating around (haha) on the Internet ?

Nope, this is maybe my closest which has been described as 'Village of the Damned'

Ghost photos? All the time!
Nothing will show on the negatives, though.
I insist that there are ghost photos on the blank negatives.
One day, someone will manufacture Ghost Sensitive Film!

Boooooooooooooooooooah!

Defects or dust on the interior elements of the lens sometimes give "ghostlike" images or strange "lights." I am always "amazed" by the number of incidents of alien abductions that occur of subjects on their way to the local kwiki-mart at half-time.

I am amazed that alien abductors always seem to pick on yokels driving pick up trucks thru a deserted forest on the way back from the liquor store. Never seems to happen to a teetotaller nuclear physicist, in front of a crowd of 300 collegues while giving a dissertation on the quantum mechanics.

hmmm, think I just answered my own question.

I had a mid-roll frame of an outdoor scene appear with a black ghostly image on it a couple of weeks back. Later I found it is most likely my darn camera strap that got in the way! So... camera strap, always around the neck.

Of possible interest is the recent remake of the Thai movie, "Shutter". Just released last month:

Haven't seen the new version yet (filmed in Japan), but did see the Thai one. It was entertaining, but not fabulous.

I'm a sucker for photography-related films.

It was when we were filming on location in "Kamp Vught" for a educational documentary. We were taking some pictures of the cast and crew in one of the prisoner barracks, It was rather dark and dusty so plenty of the photos had "orbs" on them. One of the other extras was absolutely convinced that these were the spirits of the prisoners housed in this building during WW2.

My friend and I chuckled about this. Of course we knew the barracks we were in were not the original prison barracks ,but reconstructed ones built inside the area that now houses the museum about Concentration Camp Vught.

Apart from that I get a couple of man-made ghosts when I forget to wind the film, but never any real ones.
