Fujica Compact Deluxe battery

I recently acquired a Fujica Compact Deluxe and now see why such a fuss is made over it. It's a beautiful camera and fortunately, everything on mine works as it should. I'm not sure which battery is the correct choice though; is it the SR44 as I've read or should it take a 675 or 625 type battery? Which will deliver more accurate meter readings?

Surprisingly the Fujica Compact Deluxe was designed to use a 1.5V silver cell (44/76/357) more commonly used by later cameras.

Thanks a bunch, Chris. I thought I'd read that somewhere but I wasn't sure. Nor could I believe a camera from the time period this camera was made in would use such a readily accessible battery; that would be too simple and things don't usually work out that way. Thanks for the info. This is a great camera!

OMG, yes. Very compact, manual control, shutter priority, a "smart" over/under display in the vf (instead of exposure lock), takes modern batteries, a separate meter on the top plate, and a 45/1.8 lens that just has something "special" about it, especially black and white.

Not too many people know about these things - let them go after the Oly RDs, and the Canons QLIII, and the Himatic 7SIIs... 🙄

No kidding, Nick. I remember your post some weeks ago about the Compact Deluxe to which I responded about my Fujica 35-SE. Since getting this Compact Deluxe though, I have fallen head over heels for it and it has become my favorite camera to take with me.

Sorry for the delay in response, I just kept forgetting about it. Here it is now, for future reference.

The official word from the manual is that it takes a Mallory MS 76 or Eveready S 76 battery. Radio Shack has a 76 battery that is a direct replacement, and there are probably others that will work as well.
