Possible problems with Focusing Patch

Hi again,

For those who read my first thread and for those who not, I said I just bought the R-D1s and doing the initial tests, I´ve noticed something that might be wrong:

- the focusing patch (little box that allows us to do the focus, right??) is not in the middle of the viewfinder.

Is this right?Or should I begin to worry?Another bad thing is that I´m in Brazil, and don´t know where to take the camera if needs repair (by warranty).Well, lets see what you tell me.Thanks Bruno

If it is badly out of alignment, it can be adjusted by removing the hot shoe. have a look here,

Its normal. The framelines are parallax corrected in the R-D1 - they move as you focus, but the rangefinder patch does not move with the framelines (as in the Leica). Therefore depending on the point of focus the RF patch will not be centred within the framelines (most noticable with 50mm frame). The patch should be at the approximate centre of the full finder area though ignoring the position of the set framelines.

Nothing wrong with it. This has been extensively documented, it is a parallax adjustment.

Don't start playing with the adjustment screws unless you have to.

The OP said that the patch is not in the centre of the 'viewfinder'. He never mentioned 'frame lines'. Though this may be what he meant. Bruno?

If it's not in the centre of the viewfinder as he stated it is not just the parallax adjustment causing this.

Hi everyone,

First of all, say thanks for those trying to help and explain too that I´m new in too things :
- work with the RF cameras
- read this specific informations in english (I´m not a native of the english language!!)
So, sometimes, it´s hard to determine what is a "focusing patch", what should move and what don´t. Otherwise, I confess that with so many threads and sites talking about these "adjustment problems", I presumed that something was wrong, after taking a long breath and say : you dumb, try a deep analysis first, then you think about playing with screws and hot shoes!!!
John,Jim and M.Valdemar, thanks a lot for answering one so recurrent thread!! Now I see that what was moving its the framelines:bang:.To be honest, I dont know for sure if there´s any problems with my camera. I´m just too new for this things to see them clearly.And, unlike you guys, it´s not easy to find RF owners here, making it difficult to ask for a advice or an experienced view.
