I have been contemplating a Billingham bag for my two Electro 35 cameras.
These are my workhorses.

I would like a softer more comfortable bag than the one I use now and know that Billingham would suit. My concern is how much protection would it give. They seem a little too soft and pliable to me, yet they are popular.

I have yet to see one in the flesh.

Any thoughts, suggestions please?

OMG, buying that bag just for Electros will raise value of camera 5-50 times, depending on prices of Electro and bag! Sure, it's not my business.

Well, I can't give constructive feedback on this. I use ordinary $10 backpack to carry two cameras in it. Protects well (front and back are padded), fast to unzip, is more ergonomic because both shoulders are involved. Absolutely casual, that's fact. Maybe could be lighter, but that metal cameras weight a ton anyway.

Interesting reply ".................OMG, buying that bag just for Electros.....".

One is an Electro 35, the first one. The other is a GSN. Both are in excellent user condition. I think they are worth a bag at Billingham prices.

I might be inclined to ask if a Billingham bag is worthy to house two fine cameras such as these?

Peter, Fotoriesel in Sydney sell Billingham bags so get on their website, it's reasonably comprehensive and their prices are excellent.

Peter, please don't get me wrong...although my reply can look weird, I don't want to discriminate Electro. Hey, I have same pair - original 35 G and GSN, latter is beater, far from mint and working properly. I had both cheap and they deliver very good results (technically) with very low price per picture. That's why I thought it's overkill, but nothing wrong if one goes this route. I know people installing expensive audio equipment into cheap car (price of car gets less than price of sound), which they like for some reasons - and why not while they are happy with fun/price ratio?

btw same is with original hoods - they easily can cost same or more than camera itself.

btgc - my reply to your original response was tongue in cheek. Cheers mate!

Alun - thanks for the heads up on Fotoriesel. I know Mark and Steve very well and will check out the website.

Alun, thanks again for the Fotoriesel info.

I just visited their site and the Billingham L2 will do the job I want.
Small, compact and will hold two Electros plus minor accessories.
I will most probably add the Avea 3 pouch and a shoulder pad.
Pricing is excellent.

I have the Hadley Pro and like it but don't take the bag everywhere as it "carries itself" in a more formal, "stiff" way.. and I prefer bags that are more shape-adjustable. Otherwise a great bag. I have carried in it just about every camera I own and was not arrested (yet) :)

14 years ago I took a sabbatical year and went round the world. I took 2 Nikon bodies - an FE and an FM, 4 lenses and a flashgun; all packed in a Billingham bag, one advantage of which is that it doesn't look like a camera bag, i.e. doesn't shout 'steal me'! Everything was well protected and survived: I still have the bag and cameras today and all in a perfectly respectable condition.
