Where are all the used Nokton 1.2s?
I am finally ready to buy one (my last lens ever!
) now and the supply has dried up!
I know they are good, but I had thought the new 1.4 would result in some trading down. I guess the 1.4 doesn't measure up in the image category?
Also, could someone explain why a bidder would pay this price for a Nokton 1.2? Seems crazy! It is auction -- 370069862858
What is so special about it?
Thanks

The silver Nokton is a special limited edition version, 1 of 300 only made in the world. Same glass, just chrome colored and M8 ready.
I think CameraQuest might have a couple left, but no one else that I know of. Photovillage sold their last one several months ago and the factory is sold out. Don't know if Popflash is a dealer.

These things always go in cycles. If you're patient, eventually a bunch of them will suddenly show up out of nowhere. Every time I've become impatient and paid up for camera gear, I've almost always regretted it, sooner or later :bang:
What's even worse is paying too much, then selling it for too little - then deciding that you really wanted it after all and rebuying for more than your original cost! I'm sure this has only happened to me, of course!
But if this is truly your "last lens," you may as well think about buying new, since the cost of the lens spread out over many years ends up being pretty small, all things considered...

While I see them from time to time (I got mine used from RFF member here), they are just such a good lens, many people are keeping it, even if they dont like the size of it. I know I'll keep mine for sure. I love this lens so much, even if I sold all my RF gear, I'd keep this lens and a body to use it on, as I dont think there is any other lens out there that delivers the results that this lens does. IMO it's the best lens Cosina made. Best 35mm lens I have ever used, actually - Rf or not. And if Cosina ever comes out with a superfast 50mm, like 1.2 or even 1.0 that is as good as this one - they will have best selling lens for sure.

...and from what I have seen here on RFF, folks are generally willing to pay not that much less for used than new. You might save a hundred bucks...

I love my Nokton 35/1.2. Although I finally thought it was too big to carry around everyday and bought a Summicron 35/2 IV (7-element), I never thought about selling the Nokton 35/1.2. Never.

Thanks all,
I knew the silver was a "special edition", but last time I looked I think it was close to the same price as the black if I remember correctly. I just checked CameraQuest and it is significantly more.
I think it is one of the situations where waiting will result in finding a good deal, but if it means only saving $100 or so, I'll go with new from Stephen!
(Here's hoping they do come out with a fast 50!)

The 35/1.2 is still listed new at Robert White . But, yikes, what a price. And that's without VAT.

The best camera is one that still works!

One reason for so few showing up used is that people simply like it and are willing to keep it! There is no competition either, only 35 as a super fast lens. When you need that speed, you have no choice.
It is also very reasonably priced, even as new so just get one and use it.

Of course you're right Tom! It is very reasonably priced, given what it is.
After seeing that the prices for used really only saves a hundred or so $, I was just about ready to place an order when I ran across a comparison that showed the 35 Nokton 1.4. It was doing pretty well in comparison (at 1.4). Things are always so complicated!
I'll probably go with the 1.2, however. Guess I may sell some of my modest stash of HIE to help fund it, unfortunately!
