The $8,500 Divide: My Real-World Take on the New Nokton 35mm F1.2 IV vs. the M 35mm Noctilux

Just looked at the video. So over hyped. You can get this excited about any lens. If you want the high image quality , bokeh and modern precision, just look at the zeiss 35mm 1.4 distagon. based on what I have seen so far on the net of samples, the DIstagon is hard to beat.

"Jaw dropping" and "changes everything" are red flags for me. Not only is it poor writing it is manifestly a lie.
It's a lot of silliness. Do what I do: listen/read reviews purely for the entertainment value. 😉

Of course, I fail sometimes to see what the big complaint is about the Noctilux 35/1.2 price. After all, here are a few other Leica lenses and their prices:

21 Summilux-M f1,4 ASPH $9,840
28 Summilux-M f1,4 ASPH $8,555
35 Noctilux-M f1,2 ASPH $9,650
50 Noctilux-M f0,95 ASPH Silver Chrome or Black Anodised $14,225
50 Noctilux-M f1,2 ASPH in Black Paint finish $8,875
50 Noctilux-M f1,2 ASPH $8,555
50 APO-Summicron-M f2 ASPH Silver Chrome $10,265
50 APO-Summicron-M f2 ASPH Black Anodised $9,945
75 Noctilux-M f1,25 ASPH $15,615
90 Summilux-M f1,5 ASPH $14,975

So if you're gonna get your knickers in a twist about the price of the Nocti 35, well, prepare to keep them nicely twisted as you review a lot of other premium Leica M lenses.

And if you can't afford these kinds of prices, well, obviously there are a lot of other options both new and used.

G

btw: None of my lenses are in this rarified price strata. And I'm in no way feeling that I'm missing out on something that I just have to have. LOL! 😇
