I love the light with the hot spot on the building and the street level being mostly in shade. I like the angles. I might have liked something more in the foreground.
Mostly I like that it makes me feel a little homesick after moving North 2 years ago.

The perspective--the vertical convergence--bothers me. I like pictures of this kind to be done with a PC lens, and/or perspective corrected in photoshop.

With this picture I was aiming to get a mood of late afternoon Toronto and that's why i titled it Toronto.
The second post by capitalK was more than I had expected so I'm quite pleased... I think that should also answer back alley's question as well.
Pixtu, I do use primes but i'm still not convinced either way when it comes to zoom vs. primes argument.

I like the idea behind the shot (for me it is the high contrast between the clouds in the sky and the building) but I would have chosen only these elements. As Pixtu said, a couple of primes might be better ... 🙂

The picture which I posted is a highly compressed and a small version of the original one so its not really a representative of the lens which YrDdraigGoch rather embarrassingly tried to speculate on. there is proper critique but speculating what kind of lens was used it down right silly and funny at the same time.

Critiques are usually done in the galleries, this image probably belongs there not in the forum. There are more 'image inclined people there'
Consider doing a salon in the gallery. Several formerly active members used to run salons comprised of the first 4-5 people to subscribe. I believe Pixtu may have been a participant I know I was.

I like the high-contrast look and how there is almost no shadow detail in the sides of the buildings - makes them almost two-dimensional.
If it was a grab shot then well seen! If it was something you took your time setting up then a different perspective with a better lens (perspective-corrected wide angle, shift or standard focal length) would make for a better image.

Richard, it was run by "RayPA" sort of like a salon; he would choose a topic for a critique and the first five in would then submit their work. Then all of us would go over the shots with comments. Usually a broad commentary on the set then we would individually discuss the separate shots in sequence. Then the person whose 'shot' was agreed as most representative would select the topic for the next one. You could stay in or pass and let someone else in. It was very fluid regarding participants. Basically first into the line was the selection method for the participation.
It was quite good if you wanted commentary or constructive criticism. I'll see if I can find the thread and flip it to you as a pm if I do.

You're from the same stock as YrDdraigGoch, you get your kicks by coming to critique threads and spewing your bitterness stemmed from lack of imagination on other people. Did I ask "guess the lens i used" when I posted this? Sometimes its better to get ones head out of one's you-know-what and not troll when the poster is asking for help.

on the technical level - like others, the contrast is too high to my eye and other than the buildings in the mid-ground (which may have been what you were exposing for), the shadows are blocked up suggesting under exposure...
the converging lines bother me personally because it distorts the perspective, something that i find pretty important (correct perspective) when photographing buildings..
compositionally, there is not focus, there seems to be a lot going on in the frame but I can see too little of it, and what is exposed properly are rather non-descript buildings and there isn't anything in the image to suggest that this is a scene of Toronto... not sure if you intended to communicate some of the things that embody the city, but if you did, perhaps getting closer to the streetcars and shooting in colour or choosing more recognized landmarks or buildings would be better...

You asked for feedback.
Now you are the one that's bitter for having one person state something about a lens.
You did not ask for "help" - and if you did, you certainly have a strange way of asking for it.
If you forget what you said (a mere 22 hours after posting your photo and not having anyone comment on it) here it is:
You're asking for feedback - if you wanted "help" you should have said "can I get some help with this picture please" and even then people would have to ask "help with what? ? ? "Nh3 said:
Your strange behaviour here, as has been noted by others, seems to be your modus operandi. It seems to have been that way since you started posting on the forums at RFF and hence the reason why I pointed it out in my comment.
I've given you the benefit of the doubt, even thought "maybe he's just in a bad mood today" but, to me, your intentions are highly suspect.
So if you want help with the photo.. what exactly do you want help with ?
