Not that I'm going to live in the future, but what do you guys reckon about the future of the Leica lens coding system? I'm sitting on a new-ish coded Summicron 50mm and am looking at a second version Summilux 50mm, perhaps to acquire as a trade between the two. I got to thinking about what Leica might come out with next year, whether it be a full frame or not, and how the coding may be advanced and / or modified. I'm thinking that it could be a silly move to trade the two seeing as the 'Lux isn't coded and I'm not sure if Leica actually have a proper code for the second version even if I do decide to get it.
If at the moment with the M8 coding is needed on the 35mm and shorter when using a UV/IR would that mean, keeping in tune with current "logic," the 50mm would NEED to be coded for proper use with a future larger than 1.3x crop sensor when shooting colour?

I know full frame is a dream, something I personally don't think will happen very soon, but one has to have a buying strategy when things as expensive as Leica are involved.

Don't worry, this is an idea that does not even enter anybody's head🙄

Not to worry about 35 mm lens coding either. I have a Nokton 35 1.2
uncoded and there is no vignetting discernable

Maybe they don't change the coding, but perhaps the lenses required to be coded for effective use with a IR filter change, eg the 50mm lenses and wider as opposed to the 35mm and wider.
 
The codes won't change, but what a camera futurther down the line does with the codes could change.
 
I have a 43mm-filter 50 Summilux and have no reason to code it, but if I did, I'd just use the one Leica designed for the 46mm version which is optically identical except for focusing 0.3m closer.
