Did Canon make an FD to Leica SM converter. I recently see such an item offered for sale and wonder if it was and actual Canon product or a third party. The seller says it is a Canon product.
There is a Novoflex version as well and of course both work with either FD or FL lenses. I own one and it works just fine except that if you intend ever using it on an M mount camera with the addition of the SM to M adapter it has a tendency to bind on projecting parts of the M body (M3 and M4P - not sure about the others) due to the large diameter of the Canon to Leica SM barrel. I cannot say if the same issue is apparent with the original Canon product. But its best to be aware of the possibility. I was a little disappointed in this respect as I liked the idea of using my FL mount optics on my M bodies.
The Canon FL mount 35mm f 2.5 ooks pretty cool mounted on this Canon IVSB.
I just put my new Novoflex FD to M SM adapter to use and none of the photos were in focus. I used mainly a 15mm FD lens set at hyperfocal distance for f16 so something should have been in focus. I'm not impressed!
Some of those Novoflex adapters are just for adapting an M39 camera (or reflex housing?) to a bellows - in that case I don't think the back focus would be correct for mounting a lens directly to the camera. I think it should be about 13.2mm from face to face...
