which hood for canonet

hello,which lens hood do you recommend for the canonet g111 gl17?the book shows number 4 but i've seen a number 5 for sale 'recommended for the glll '.

Once you see the used prices for the 4 or 5, you will recoil in horror. Could easily cost more than your camera.

I ended up just buying a 48 --> 49 mm filter adapter and use it as hood - cheap and works quite well.

Check out the hama hoods at bhphotovideo. they come with a cap. under $20.

I got one, brand name is Prinz, from the *bay. Look them up. They're marketed as "for the Canonet." They're metal-made, from Germany IIRC.

Here is my TESTED solution:

48~46 step down adapter, and then 46mm short (wide) hood.

Remember that you are limited within a very little room with the light sensor on the lens and the yellow patch window above - that's why going for a 49 hood and according step up addpter will eat too much of the yellow patch.

hello,i've manage to get a lens hood at last,and it the original canon no4 hood.disapointed with the build quality of the hood,i'll have to be careful when i carry the camera in my pocket.this is why i bought the ql111-17 in the first place.i wanted something that i could carry in tricky places rather my bronica rf or my hasselblad.
