Hi!

Some pictures to share from my new Elmarit-M. I think this lens might be the sharpest lens I own... I find it very flare resistant too. Wonderful.

Granted, this picture is somewhat out of focus, but I like the feel of it.

nextreme—Thanks!

I was hoping to shoot with the 90/2.8 Hexanon today, as a comparison to the Elmarit. I have the R-D1 and Hexanon in front of me now, but unfortunately, the SD card is at home. Oh well!

Anyway, some physical comparisons: the Hexanon is a few mm shorter, and a touch narrower in diameter. It is a little lighter. The focus throw of the Hexanon is shorter, and the focusing action feels better damped than the Leica. Both take 46mm filters, and in use, they feel very similar. At a quick glance, they look identical.

Very fine photos Justin ! # 2 has - nearly - MF quality !

I had two times the Elmarit-M 90/2.8 (and one time the TE 90/2.8 thin) but always found the 2.8 to limiting. So I bought a 90mm Summicron-M pre-ASPH and keen to test it. :)

Justin, tell me how it feels focusing Elmar compared to Hexanon.

I have hexanon and Im disappointed with handling. IT is hard focus fast and easy from infinity to close or vice versa. I noticed that it is due design because two inside barrels move at the same time. Same with Jupiter 85/2.

So I have Summicron 50mm and it focus so easy so thats why I wonder if it is same as with Elmar with simple inside barrel as Cron and focus easily?

I consider Elmarit or Summarit. Maybe Summarit since it seems to have a plenty of grip on focus ring. Mums

Justin, nice photos. I have always liked my 90 Elmarit from the early 60's, but like maddoc, wanted a faster lens:

so I just bought a 90 Summicron and will be listing my Elmarit to help pay for it.

Tomasis, I find that both lenses are very smooth to focus from both ends of the focusing range. However, it feels to me that the Elmarit is easier to fine-tune focus. I encounter a slight hesitation with the Hex' when I try to adjust it just a little bit.

I've posted some pictures in the Konica RF forum, and the thread is here.

Some color pictures from the Elmarit. I'm still experimenting with the color settings in the RAW software, but for the purposes of comparing with the Hexanon, I've used the same settings for both lenses.

what do you find in comparisons of elmar and hex? personal feelings, characteristics of optics, build quality? What I could judge of images, elmar has quite visibly more contrast. It just pops out in images. It reminds me of Cron 50mm.

myself I think add Elmar or Summarit to compare to Hex which I own as only 90/2.8. I'm in not hurry for the second one yet though.
