Greetings again! I just bought a MINT 135mm F2.8 Elmarit w/magnifying goggles & built in-hood, (Canadian) via 1978.
I tested it on ALL my cameras... M3, M4 and two M6's. ALL were fine except one of the M6's.
The RF PATCH is high, but only on this lens, (others work fine... 35mm, all my 50's, and my one 90mm).
Also, I tried ALL my lenses on EVERY CAMERA "M" BODY I OWN & only on this ONE M6 body was the RF PATCH high.
Could their be a reason for this? If so, what step do I take to correct the issue? All advise and opions are most welcome.

My M5s need red dots!
I had a problem just like yours. The goggles in the Elmarit are probably misaligned. The very definitive test would be to run some film in the camera using that lens and see if the focusing quirk has any effect on the photos themselves (open the lens wide and examine the negatives).
I had three Leicas when I wound up with my Elmarit. In two of them, no problem. With my M6TTL... there was NO perfect adjustment. I ran a roll of cheap supermarket film and all the photos came out perfectly focused. However, I sent the lens to Don Goldberg in Wisconsin, and he told me that the goggles were misaligned. Of course, he also fixed them.
What version is your lens? Is it the one that takes series VII filters or does it take 55mm filters? Either way, it may be the lens.
Take care!
