Happy with new Leather Half case

Corresponded directly with Mr. Zhou and for $50 including S&H I could not resist the price given the difference with the highly praised Italian made leather half case.

Opened the box, slipped onto my recently bought M4-P (that I still have to get a lens for...) and am very happy with the result :D
 
thats the same finish for my hexar half case. it fits and and feels good. if anything i like the improved ergonomics and secure grip.

just need to get rid of that leather smell! i suppose that's not a problem with the fine wares from italy. i suppose you get what you pay for.

Nope! In fact, I'm sure I'm not the only one who likes to secretly sniff the Luigi leather once in a while. :D And then there are probably those who don't even care if they are seen doing it in public. ;)

BTW Rogier, the picture still doesn't seem to be coming up. I would love to see it.

A lot of things smell better than the Zhou case I'm afraid. The first I did when I received the case was to install it on the camera. The first thing I noticed, was how nice it looks the second was when I held the camera to my eye and noticed the dirty smell.

I rubbed a little "Mink Oil" a eucalyptus scented waterproofing for leather on it. The appearance of the leather hasn't changed but the smell has a bit.

I just put my nose on my new case. Its certainly not a strong odor, it smells a bit like new shoes :rolleyes:
 
This was a typical thread that was posted when FSU cameras first hit eBay. The first thing that one noticed upon opening the box which was secured with twine was....................

Anyway, I have two Zhous cases, one for an M in brown - which I don't care for, - the other is for my IIIf - that fits perfectly. Neither have much of a smell.

I too have bought a case yesterday.... got an email from him personally a few hours later confirming that it was shipped. He has a few specials at $48 with free shipping. I guess I can't go wrong with that price.

I have his tan M5 half case (see my avatar), and it smells to me like fresh cowhide leather. Craftsmanship is there, IMO. I'm glad I bought one, BTW, how many new things are made for the M5 these days?

This is Zhou. It's very interesting to see these comments for my cases. Seems no question about the quality of the case. But some issues with the smell, I personal didn't notice much about that before I saw this thread. It does smell like other new leather products. I assume the smell will reduce as time goes. And in the future, I will choose cowhide with less smell. I understand how it feels when your eye close to the viewfinder your nose gets close to the case too.

I love the way mine looks and feels on my CL!
As for the smell, no different than any other leather product. I also like the the smell of new leather.

I've recently bought two cases for my IIIf's from Mr Zhou- one black, one brown. Did not really notice any smell other than that of new leather - craftmanship is top quality imho.
