Fair price for a Hexanon-M 50 f2?

Hi, I recently purchased a Silver Hexar RF Limited without lens. I've done so after playing around with a Contax G1 kit (28/45/90) for the past 6 months or so. Having decided that the Contax wasn't for me I now find myself back at my own personal step 1. Which means I have a body and a 35 mm lens that I like (Ultron 35/1.7) but no 'normal' lens.

So I'm thinking about 50 mm lenses and the Hexanon seems to be a good option - but what do members think is a fair price for such a lens? I've only seen one for sale for about US$500 posted online - but this seems a bit high (or isn't it?).
 
Don't know about the price, but I too moved to the Hexar from using G1 kit.
Like you I have the 35mm Ultron which is a nice lens and looked at getting a 50mm M-Hexanon lens. However in the end I went for a 50mm Zeiss Planar. After the Contax I really missed the Zeiss glass. I believe the Konica lenses are great, but I just had to have that Zeiss fix again. 😉

Good luck getting a lens, the Hexar is a great camera.
 
From what I've observed, $400-500 is about the norm for this lens. It almost goes without saying that if you see one for a bit less (and with no caveats), pounce!

Hey Tyrone, I notice your from Australia as well. I actually have a Hexanon 50mm f/2 which I bought for my Leica m4-2 awhile back but never had the chance to use it before I sold it. So at the moment I have the lens and no body (although I have serious ZI gas).

Long story short, I have been keeping it until I purchase a new body but I'm not sure if I will return to RF photography after owning a nice OM-2n. I tried selling it here awhile back but noone in Aus wanted it at the time. The lens has a dent in the built-in hood preventing it from being pushed all the way in (otherwise jamming the frontal aperture ring). If you could hold off til the end of next week I might be able to offload it but you might also want to test the lens for yourself first too. I bought it for $200pp US early last year before people found out about the lens ha!

I'd say $500 is kind of high for a Hexanon ($400-450 is about right). It's a fabulous lens.

You might also consider a Planar 50mm. It is another fine lens in the $500 range. There have been a number of them for sale here in the last few weeks.
 
Thanks to all for the price ideas. I get the feeling that the one I saw online at the auction site is about at least $100 too expensive in Aussie dollars. I'll keep looking I guess.

Wongyboi, I might be interested in your Hexanon lens, but I'm down on the bottom of South OZ so not really close by for me to meet up for a look at your lens. How bad is the dent? Nice photos on your sight by the way, I particularly liked the Kiev 88 set.
