Hi all, newbie here.
I'm actually an M-mount photography but have a question regarding adjustable extension tubes for LTM.
I'm trying to adapt a Schneider Betavaron to a T2 mount. The Betavaron has no foucussing helix, nor does it need one. However it does need to be exactly 80 mm from the film plane.
I have a T2 to 39mm adapater on the camera and my measurements indicate I need to fill in approximately 25mm between the adapter's 39mm female thread and the Betavaron's 39mm male thread.
I'm perplexed by the large variety of LTM extention tubes. Perhaps a 25mm tube will give me the distance I need but more likely it will need to be a little more or less so an adjustable extension tube would be great.
Has Leitz ever made such a thing? What was it called and where would I look for one?
Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks
Robert

So far as I know, Leitz (and Canon and others) only made plain extension tubes. Bellows probably would not work for you.

There is one tube named MOODH, probably marked "M1:1.5", it has 24.5mm extension so it might work and might not...ROOYH/16615 has 26mm extension in it. Variable extension tubes are few and i think most of them have special mounts for a particular lens.

A better idea is probably find some soviet made M39 tubes and try to make them fit, otherwise it aint rocket science to take a PVC pipe of the correct length with threads at both ends. My $0.02 here...

Thanks. Your guess is right, bellows won't work. I've tried a couple and they won't allow the lens close enough to the camera.

The soviet extension tube idea sounds like the go. It's not going to cost a lot to try it anyway. I've looked at photos of some of the Leitz close-up devices for LTM lenses and they are too recessed to take the Betavaron which is quite pudgy.
If I had tubes giving me 24.5 & 26 as you describe I reckon I'd make something work. I have week before the T2-to-LTM adapter arrives and my vernier gauge will then be able to tell me the exact dimension. I'll use that time to hunt down some tubes.
Thanks for your input.

The "thickness" (flange to film) of an LTM body is 28.8mm. The "thickness" of an LBM body is 27.8mm. The LTM to LTB adapter is 1mm. With these numbers you can calculate exactly the length of tube you need.
