My RF vertical adjustment is off, and I'm contemplating buying a rangefinder adjustment tool as despite the exorbitant cost it will be cheaper than sending it away for adjustment more than once.
I have had a look underneath the screw (where the red dot is on the M6), but was wondering whether someone who has a tool would be kind enough to post a picture or alternatively explain how the tool 'mates' with the adjustment mechanism in the camera.
Thanks!

Isn't it just a screwdriver slot? Can you describe what you see?
Okay, so it isn't just a screwdriver slot. Here is what I found to do it yourself:

And from this, I certainly wouldn't pay $250 for the tool.

Thanks Vickko,
I've read those guides before, and still it's not clear to me how the tool fits into the camera when the top is still on, i.e. through the small hole in the front.

Where are you located? "Gert" sounds like a Dutch or Belgian name... If you are close to Antwerp, Belgium, I can help you out.
I got my MP realigned a few weeks ago at the office of http://www.debeukelaer.be/ . I gave them a call, got through to an obvious expert and we made an appointment a few days later. He fixed it for me on the spot; took about 15 minutes and he did not charge anything for it. I was amazed, and very thankful to say the least.

It's cheering to discover, every now and then, that there still are good people in this bad world.
I agree that the tool, howsoever it may fit, is far too expensive.

Amoz,
Thank you very much for your kind offer! I am, unfortunately, located in Canberra, Australia. My wife and I are coming to Europe in December/January for 7 weeks. At the moment we have no plans for Belgium, but if our plans change then I will be sure to contact you!
payasam: The tool is cheaper than sending it insured to the US or Europe for repair more than once. I'm sure there must be someone in Sydney or Melbourne who can fix it, but the local dealers here do not know.

I'm not sure if the insurance and post would be significantly cheaper, but Hong Kong has a few technicians who are more than capable of servicing your MP.
I would imagine you or someone you know goes to Hong Kong occasionally.
Also, the Leica website lists Adeal as the repair center in Australia:
http://us.leica-camera.com/service/service_and_repair/worldwide_network/au/photography/index.html
You might try inquiring with them if you haven't already.

Sure, you're welcome. Try to let me know in advance. If you have seven weeks maybe you will get a chance to pass by. By the way, Antwerp city is definitely worth a few nights! ;-)
I'll PM you my phone number.

The red or black Leica label in the front top middle of the MP has to come off. I've never removed one - I anticipate that it is glued on. The removal of the label would expose the hole, to access the vertical alignment screw.
