ultron 35 1.7 focus past infinity?

i bought the ultron 35 1.7 from this forum a few months back and it has performed very well. I often hyperfocused with it and because of that only just recently did i notice that it focuses beyond infinity. I was curious if this was something common with this particular lens and anything i need to worry about if i am shooting it wide open or with narrow DOF.

I'd try it on your Bessa. It is possible that your Leica M2 rangefinder is slightly out of adjustment.

Some early issue C/V 35mm f2.5 PII lenses were known to come up just short of infinity, but I've not heard of any infinity issues with the Ultron.
 
ok tried the lens on my bessa r and it seem to be fine. tried my planar 50 on the leica and also noticed it focuses a tad bit past infinity. Is this something i should worry about? Is their a easy "do it yourself" fix or should i just not worry about it?

infinity meaning fifty feet or so away. i am just wondering if this will be an issue if focusing closer than infinity wide open (50ft 😛)? and if it is an issue that is worh fixing or can be fixed easily.
 
Yes and no, how far to you think far is? It could be very far, that you would have to take a car. So long you might need to have a drink at a bar. Where you might run into a Czar. Who might award you a Star.

i'm fairly new to rangefinders and dont believe i ever experienced such an issue with the few slrs i had before hand. So all i am asking for is an answer that is perhaps not so sarcastic but may actually do me some good.
 
my 25/4 skopar does the same on my m2 with a VC adapter.
I asked the same question here. I could not get a proper answer.
The lens seems to focus fine both with the rangefinder and the scale on the barrel, close and far.
So i stopped worrying.

Thanks, yeah i just took a few test shots with one of the lens wide open and close focus. i guess after i develop i can tell if focus is accurate enough. i'm probably just being a worry wart. 😀

CV Quality Control is an Oxymoron

Toss the adapter and get a Leitz or another brand. I had the same problem and that was my cure.

Unlike most folks on this site who seem to be devotees to the brand, by experience I think twice about buying CV products unless the deal is really good.
 
don't think it's the adapter. I have the same issue with my 21/4 as i said, with a C/V adapter, but the focus is still spot on.
Moreover, i use the same adapter for a canon 50/1.2 lens, and there is NO focusing error with that lens neither, wide open, on an M2.

Finally, the 21/4 lens on itself rotates further than infinity when not mounted. Without any adapters or such. So how can it be the adapter?
 
plus to add to the confusion my planar 50 mounted on my m2 focuses slightly past infinity as well. cant mount it on my bessa since it isnt ltm, so no other base for comparison.

ah thanks Larry for the site http://nemeng.com/leica/034b.shtml. I just read it and per the site infinity could be as far as 3 km away so that tree that was 50 feet or so away may not suppose to be in focus at infinity. I've yet to finish the roll in the m2 with the few test shots i took so i'll have to either wait for that or wait till the moon comes out so i can focus on that.
