This photo is one of a few shots from my first attempt of M8 + CV15, only a few minor post processing done, comments welcomed, and any experience on this combination are welcomed too.

The lens itself is not bad.
What I don't like on my is the fact fact, that the stops and distance marks are not exactly
in the upper position (like on my leica lenses).
The lens is, when connected to body, slitly twisted to the right side.

I agree about the twisted or rotated position on the camera. I'm glad to hear that mine is not the only one. it doesn't seem to affect anything and the lens is excellent for the price. I am slightly concerned that the rotated mount might affect the efficiency of the tiny sunshade, but I have not noticed any problem in that respect either. I don't think that the settings on the lens barrel are inaccurate. I think it's just that the markings are just too close together for an precise setting. I'm not sure it makes a lot of difference, however, given the great DOF for this very short focal length.

You can adjust the screwmount by some degrees to each side. All you need to do is remove the four screws on the mount - underneath the mount you will see different screwholes. Simply choose the correct angle for your misalignment of the lens on the M-mount adapter. It's really easy.

I recall Stephen Gandy of Cameraquest saying the same thing. I would be inclined to believe him, seeing as he is an official CV dealer.

Unfortunately, this is my least favorite lens on the M8. I find it a drab performer digitally. For film it's great! The alignment on the lens mount does not affect performance in any way.

I remember seeing somewhere that people preferred the 12mm on the M8. But this is a lens I would like to own regardless.

I use mine regularly with my M8. As I do with my WATE. I find the difference between the two slightly more pronounced than what Reid shows in his tests. The WATE is better. The WATE has more 'punch' in micro contrast, as Reid writes, and the difference . I find far more CA (Chromatic Aberration ) than Reid, but under different circumstances. Still one can question if the difference is worth the price difference. And the Voigtländer is certainly not worse regarding CA than what Canon shooters have to live with. Which is remarkable with a rangefinder camera/lense.
I find that the Voigtländer 15 mm 4,5 Super Wide Heliar Aspherical is far more compact and makes the M8 look more 'amateurish' and 'cheaper' - compared to having the WATE mounted. This is a huge advantage in many situations. In use, it is more difficult to focus correctly since it is not rangefinder coupled. Typically, the difference in sharpness between the WATE and the Voigtländer is that I have not managed to hit the right focus point with the latter. When thoroughly tested the difference in resolution between the WATE and the Voigtländer is marginal. -While the WATE files 'shines' with it's fine micro contrast.

I have the 15 CV in Nikon F-mount, and use it on the M8 with a CV F-> M adapter together with an Orion adapter . While this may sound odd, I have been told that the Nikon version of this lens was assembled with greater care for centering. I find it a very good performer.

Thanks for the info! I have just corrected mine. It wasn't all that simple since it is this shim in between that confused me a bit. Further, you have to try out several different positions to find the correct one.

Seeing as nobody appears to have commented on the picture, I'll say that I really like it. Great colours and dynamic shapes. 🙂

I purchased my 15mm on a whim about 6 months ago from ebay. I generally use lenses within the normal focal length (35, 50 & 75mm). After reading a number of positive reviews I decided to give it a try (mainly architectural photography)
Little did I realize that I would find this the perfect lens for street photography. Great results with film and digital. With the M8, I use the 15mm viewfinder but will probably buy a 21mm finder for it down the road.
Great performer with regards to contrast, sharpness, colour rendition and ease of use. I even don't mind the edge distortion at close distances. Made a couple of Lambda prints yesterday 30 inches wide (full frame), very impressed with the results.

I have it and use it when traveling (e.g. Paris), because it's cheap, almost always in infinite focus and is low profile on the M8. It's worked well for me and a decent lens, but tend to prefer the 21mm sans extra viewfinder as it gives just that bit more edge than the 28mm on travel shots without the fish-eye distortion of the 15mm. If you do go with the 15mm, that's great, but look at PTLens - http://epaperpress.com/ptlens/ for post processing to flatten the image and make it look wide without the "curve of the earth" sense in the middle of the frame. The plugin for CS is $25 and while not perfect, gives a quick "one click" fix for the 15mm (and others) so no one suffers vertigo looking at your shots ;> good luck, ken

Nice shot Tony and thx Tim for the comments. After reading all comments from you guys it seems M8 + CV15 with a 21 finder is quite a combination for street work.

Nothing wrong with this lens. As I am not a real WA shooter, I cannot justify the WATE, but for occasional use this one is just right.

I have one AIS mount of CV 15mm, too.
I use it on Canon EOS 5D and Nikon D3, and I find the result is very good. The corner fall-off on 135 FF sensor IMO is acceptable. This is the reason why I believe that Nikon or Canon COULD make a FF digital RF, but they don't due to other concerns.
