Do NOT presume that the shutter is broken. Instead, presume that the lubricants of the era have hardened and the shutter blades simply are not moving.
In my obsessed Yashica GS, GT, GSN and GTN days, I used to spend hours doing Ronsonol (lighter fluid) flushes on the shutters. Sometimes I ran a little Ronsonol into the lens/shutter housing and sometimes I took out the front and second lens elements and applied Ronsonol to the shutter blades.
Then, I would spend hours watching television and working the lever and shutter button. Most of them "revived" and went on to wonderful image capture. I don't think I ever ran into a GSN or GTN that had a broken shutter.

Looking at b1bmsgt's leater covered Electro: I never understood why people prefer leather instead of vulcanite. Any thoughts?

Nice idea with the O-Ring, now I have a new use for them. Used them only as adapter rings for batteries until now.

The brown leather eveready case I have picked up at junk stores and camera fairs, for less than a £5 each with leather straps.I have managed to find cases
for Electro GX/CC/GTN. look out for the Agfa cases. The (Thingie) is a soft release the small version the collar fits but the thread is to small, a very little amount of strong Epoxy resin (Glue) on the thread does the job.This is one accessory I would recommed and I have fitted to all my Yashisa Electros.

What hides under the thread? Is the thread the only thing holding the leather part together or is a rivet (or better 2) hiding under it?

I own both the tele lens and the wide angle lens for the GX. Just got lucky at an auction... But are they really that rare?
