Contax 35-70 Lens for G1

Does anyone know if the 35-70 lens will work on a modified G1 (green lable)?

Thanks I have the manual but I beleive it was published before the lens came out. I suspect that with the modification for the 35mm it might work but while I have a G1 & G2 would like it to be usable on both cameras.

I just mounted the 35-70 on a green-label G1 and it did not work (no AF action or any other action). I then tested the (long-unused) G1 with a couple of other lenses and those worked ok. So I'd assume the 35-70 does not work with the green-label G1.

I too believe it only works on a G2. I actually have a black one, very nice lens. Terrific for a slightly slow zoom, great for travel.

The lens only works on a G2 (as others have said). I remember reading that the ROM (?) in the the G1 couldn't be updated to work with the zoom, although you could get it updated to work with the 21mm and 35mm that came out with the G2.

It's not only the ROM, the lens contacts are different. The G2 has 7 contacts where the G1 has 5. The additional contacts are for the zoom.

Thanks socke. Didn't even think about the contacts. I've got a G1 and a G2, so I guess I probably could've checked that, huh? 🙂
(I don't have the zoom though)
