Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a Contax G1, and everything seems to be working perfectly except for the frame counter display. The numbers appear very faint, making it difficult to see how many frames I've shot. I have a fresh battery installed, and even after exposing a few frames, the issue persists. The numbers are only barely visible under certain lighting conditions.

Interestingly, the other LCD screen on the left side of the camera is unaffected. I'm wondering if this could turn into a more serious problem down the line, or if it's just a minor annoyance. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on potential fixes or whether I should be concerned?

Thanks in advance! 😊

No real way to fix this, other than getting an LCD from a donor camera and doing some surgery with a soldering iron. It's just an aging LCD.

It may be this way for a long time or get gradually less contrasty.

I owned a G1 for a couple of years and by the time I sold it in the mid 2000's, it started developing this problem with the LCD. I never had it fixed and just shot with it that way until I sold it. It was a nice camera, a bit quirky, but those Zeiss lenses were spectacular.
