Hi Jaapv,
Actually it was a Toyota Landcruiser built from spare parts with no suspension and bald tyres 14Kilometres up a less than 6ft wide goat track with a 1000 metre drop on one side and a sheer cliff on the other and Licensed ( By who heaven knows)to carry 40 people.
At least I have the choice ..a BMW(actually an Audi RS8 would be 1st choice) or the Defender.
Leica have a 'Take it or leave it' attitude born from all the succsessfull cameras they have made in the past..
I and all the other pros I know in my profession feel much about the M8 as I do, that it is not worth carrying the extra weight.
Actually Its a bit like going to the hottest club on a date with Kylie and discovering she has a wooden leg.

PS I have been kissed on assignments infinatley more times than shot at and for that I am very very thankfull.

Because the company mindset regarding the "M" line would change overnight. They'd quit focusing on whoring out their corporate reputation to peddle camera porn to middle-aged fondlers and start making well-made, useable cameras again.

The S2 is evidence that the company is serious about competing again, and I wish it much success in the marketplace. Can you imagine a "special edition" S2? It's laughable, isn't it? The M line will be a success again when the same risibility applies to the notion of Leica making any pimp-my-ride style M.
 
Actually the noise performance of this last generation is not as good as the one before, thanks to high pixel counts, the only exception being the D3, where Nikon managed some amazing electronics. I suggest you actually read the test. The M8 and the 5d (regarded as a benchmark) are very close up to ISO 1250-1600, which is confirmed by a number of threads running on LUF ight now.

Those two had to buy afaik. In fact Tina is a fairly active member of LUF and a huge M8 fan.
The pro M8 shooters seem to congregate on LUF.

Just had a quick browse through Tina's work all in B/W ? Great art pics from the hospitals and good portraits but it would seem from her profile thats exactly what the minders wanted her to photograph. Anyway if I turned in a B/W pic to the 'Mirror' or 'Times' for edition the picture editors might be a little surprised to say the least.

She's a great photographer. I think her Honduras series is all colour. I hear what you are saying about editors. I would be a lousy professional photographer - too opinionated 🙁...She dropped her M8 into a stream there. It didn't harm the camera, she claims. We still rag her about that one😛

Just a thought I'm told this morning by a Dutch PJ student that one of my pics from Pollsmoor Prison Cape Town is circulating round the Dutch universities in a mag called 'JOINT'. ?
