Refuses to suffer fools
I was out shooting in the snow this lunchtime (M6 of course), and one of the shooters for the Chicago Tribune sneaked up on me:

No doubt with a caption about the crazy old coot wearing a summer hat in a blizzard? You're lucky though. When I got "my picture" in the Miami Herald last summer it was a Fourth of July crowd shot featuring a woman with a little American flag in her hair. I was behind her, but all that was visible was my arm sticking straight up holding my Bessa L/15 Heliar combo as I shot over the heads of the crowd. At least you got your ear in the paper.

I didn't want to break his lens. Then again, it *was* a Canon...

Huh? I wasn't trying to do a screen capture.

Ken, you've got to admit that Fred's supplied image has more interesting visual elements than yours. (lower right side...)

You know, those thumbs have been on the photos subpages for so long I don't even notice them any more! Same with the pic of the big rabbit.
I must be getting old.

The whole Tribune company is going down the toilet and the photographers are being treated like sh*t

I know - most of the guys I used to shoot with are gone. (I was a staffer at two different suburban biweekly chains.)
All the news, and views, that are fit to print.

Liam, do you know Scott? I've been out of it for so long that I've never met him before - I've only seen his byline.

Good job, Ken! You made it in print! What's next?
Film roles, perhaps?

Now I know how I'll recognise you next week at the AIC. I'll look for the guy with frostbitten ears.

I could probably recognize him if I saw him. I don't think he was in the studio much when I was over there. As with you, most of the people I knew best are no longer there.

The tight time lines and ubiquity of cameras capable of taking a technologically reasonable picture have lessened the value of news photographers.
BOT (Back On Topic), my eyes did swing right for some reason .
I'm was pleased to see that Ken did have a good side that could be captured
