41mm Filter Pitch for Canon 50mm f1.5?

Does anyone know whether the 41mm filter is 0.5 or 0.75 for the filter pitch?

Hey Stephen,

it's 40mm. Don't know about the pitch though. But if you get the appropriate hood, Series VII or 49mm will work.

B+W can do 40 or 41mm filters, but only 0.5 pitch, that is why I need to know before going down the route that you mentioned. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

I've used B+W 40mm ND and Skylight filters, like this one:

Currently use a 40mm Marumi filter.

Also have a standard 40-43mm stepup that works.

If you are trying to customize a UV/IR filter for this, you might want to ask your good friend instead.

And 41mm filters won't fit this lens as advised earlier.

If you cut a thin strip of masking tape and cover the threads in the lens you can get a 39mm filter to "screw" into a 40mm filter thread. It'll hold a filter just fine, but I wouldn't trust it with a hood.

Hi Stephen, the 40mm filter appears to be .75 thread pitch; I have a 40-40.5mm adapter and the threads are the same pitch as my e39 filters.

Strangely, the Canon takes 40.5mm filters without any step-up adapter. I have to confirm on the pitch size.
