I'm preparing to purchase an M8.
I have a Voigtander 50mm f/1.5, Zeiss 35 f/2, and a Leica 28mm f/2.8 ASPH. I don't know if I'll get filters with the purchase of the camera. What filter vendors should I be considering for the M8s magenta issues? Do they have to be UV+IR? What are you using/recommend? Feel free to point me to different posts, I searched but didn't find the answer.

thanks,
James

Leica, B+W, & Heliopan all make UV-IR filters that will work. For some reason, I've found the Heliopan to be harder to find, so all of my filters have been Leica or B+W. I don't know if they have to be UV-IR, as excess IR is the cause of the magenta problem, but I don't see how it hurts to combine the 2.

As far as finding threads, you might want to try using Google to search rangefinder.com, rather than the site's own search engine.

When you purchase your M8, you'll be prompted to register your camera on the Leica website, from the literature in the box.

When you do, you'll be asked to select 2 free Leica filters (they take around 5-6 weeks to arrive) so just identify which sizes are correct for your lenses.

Enjoy your purchase, I've never looked back!

The "standard" filters to deal with the magenta color issue are all UV/IR combined. Leica, Heliopan, and B+W are all very good. You can't go wrong with one of those.
