Finally! A Nikon digital rangefinder system! Just when we thought Nikon had abondoned us, they released this
http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Nikon/Digital-Camera/index.page .
I knew that 2009 would be our year!
Ok, so they don't have interchangeable lenses, and they don't have an actual rangefinder system viewfinder, or an optical viewfinder for that matter. But they are small, rectangular shaped and even come in different colors! Thank you Nikon!
p.s. This is just my feeble attempt at humor in the face of frustration due to Nikon not even hinting at considering a digital rangefinder (or even a simple 2009 coommerative F). Please put down the torches and pitchforks.

For what it's worth, I spoke to Nikon Canada rep a few weeks ago and asked him if Nikon had any plans for a dRF and he candidly told me NO - he couldn't confirm or deny whether or not Nikon looked into developing the technology for a dRF but said that the consensus within the company is that the potential size of the market is too small to support a business case for such a digital camera...
keep in mind, that it has been reported by reliable industry soruces that Nikon was manufacturing approximately 12,000 D3's a MONTH and 60,000 D300's a MONTH so it's not surprising if Nikon isn't tempted to compete with the M8 which is rumoured to have a total production run of under 20,000 units over the course of it's 4 YEAR production run...

Don't let your life slip to the point where you actually care what a camera manufacturer plans to produce.

The Nikon F went on sale in May 1959. Nikon still might surprise us between now and May

I say we should all make a pilgramage to the old factory in Oimachi, Japan, and hold a candle light vigil there until Nikon produces our commemerative F!

Now imagine if everyone starts a "funny" thread to "vent their frustration" that has absolutely no relevance other than to be ludicrous. Do you think we care to read this selfadmitted feeble bulls*t?
I'm not the one to bitch about ridiculous threads and I never do, because I can ignore them. But sometimes they just have to make a very specific title that they'll know people will mistake for serious info. Been too many of those lately.

F*k off.
Interesting thought; you happen to be the 13th response to this thread that "no one cares to read"! Dude, you really need to lighten up a bit!
p.s. You did read the sentence about it being a joke didn't you? Isn't Amsterdam supposed to be a happy place?
