have seen a 50 summicron for sale for
about 500.

stipulates: "some concentric circles on one of the
internal elements".

I'm assuming since it's not the front element,
it would probably effect the image?

That is WAY too much money for a lens that doesn't have perfect glass. Summicrons are sold in the classifieds here all the time for around that price in much better condition. i'd pass on it.

My rigid Summicron 50mm f2.0 nr. 1567871 had the same problem. I thought the lens was rendered useless, but my repairman cleaned the internal elements. It did cost me about $50, but now the lens is as good as new.

well, another sale is for a
summicron 50 f2/black #243...e++ for 695
and a dr summicron f2/chrome#203......e++ for 595
i've been looking for a few weeks

thinking the dr is a better lens, but i guess the price is good
considering the condition.
i've seen cheaper, but the condition is more worn.

Concentric circles sound to me like separation between cemented elements. If that is the case, then it would not be the front element, which in a Summicron is a singlet--not cemented. If the rings are out near the edge, there may be no visible difference in imaging. But the defect could progress, and will cost upwards of $200 to correct. At that price I would pass. It sounds like it might be a fair deal at $200 or $225 or so. Is it a DR Summicron by any chance? Or a Rigid? If it is, I've been there and done that!
