Somebody has stored this camera in a wet leather case, Leica llla - 1937, underneath the lenshood is a beautiful Nickel Summar f=2cm 1:2 - 1935. The outside is a mess but the inside is spotless, the curtains are fine and it winds and fires the slow speeds work but the fast speed dial wont lift for me to change the settings, any suggestions. I've started to remove the green unfortunately it's corroded some of the chrome. While that fast speed button is stuck I'm a bit reluctant to carry on, but hey, I've got a great lens.
The camera was given to me by a friend who was going to discard it!

Look after that Summar, it's a beaut. The camera itself is indeed a bit of a problem and maybe a candidate for stripping and repainting to black/nickel. It can be done but will cost a fair bit. Although the legendary black IIIa apparently never existed there are conversions around.
Must say I'm envious, it's a project I'd like to take on.

Google DAG Camera Parts/ Screwmount.
Don is selling a IIIa Original Vulcanite Shell.
Just take off the green leather, clean off the body, and replace the Vulcanite. Easy.

The top cover looks pretty screwed but you might be able to clean it, hard to say. You could always give CRR Luton a ring. Or sell it to me for a penny haha.

I've cleaned all the green off, the top has a little bit of corrosion, the camera seems to work fine, the inside is spotless, the slow speeds work but I can't move the fast speed dial, any suggestions.

If the top dial won't turn even when you lift it before turning, then it sounds like the moisture may have done more than cosmetic damage.
