Well I have turned the one under the advance side - wont release, The other one - wont release, both together - wont release, This was partially turned, about half-way. I then tried turning all the way one then the other then both together - advance still will not let me rewind.
I don't want to force the rewind knob for fear of tearing the film inside.
Am I missisng a release button somewhere?
The camera operated perfectly fine, advanced seemingly the proper amount as the rewind knob unwound.
What do I do?????

I just finished my first roll of film. I know to turn the locking knobs on the bottom to release the back. I read I have to turn one of the knobs partially or all the way to realse the advance.

take the camera to a darkroom or a change bag and take the back off, so you can take the film out.
you might have to use your finger or an object to press on the clutch release to unspool the film.
Now, with the empty camera, you can examine to see why the sprocket clutch is not being activated by the locking knob, it could be as simple as needing to lift the pressing pawl a bit higher inside the camera back.

To release for rewind, you should turn the knob in the bottom, under the advance about 1/4 turn, past the red dot. There is no other control nor button for rewind.
If turning said knob does not release rewind, as said above you have to open the camera in a changing bag or darkroom to check. Good luck and let us know what happened.
The knob in the opposite side is to open the back.

There should be a red dot showing where to align the knob for rewind. Unless is is a 4A, then there is a rewind button on the bottom.Nobody familiar with this problem?

Thank you kind gentlemen.
I went to a dark room and removed the back and extracated the film back into the cassette. I examined the release mechanism and it did not move a all at first. But the more I turned the knob on the bottom it finnally moved slightly back and forth.
It seems to have been stuck. Also there seems to be alot of tension (resistance) in the take up spool.
Anyway I seem to have loosend it but I will try some old film back and forth in it to see if it needs to be repaired.
I am having the film developed to see if there are any other problems or if the camera and lens are working properly.
I have to thank Yuri at Fedka for getting right back to me and telling me waht to do and what to look for. If this needs to be fixed or replaced he will take care of it. An honorable vendor.
I thank all who responded here at the forum for your advice and instruction.
Nice to know there is help for us inexperienced people with these Russian cameras.
I will keep everyone advised on how it goes from here-on-out.
