Some rumours about new digital rangefinder Leica M9, leaked from Leica Camera R&D department.
Since M8 isn't a cure against crappy shots of family and pets, M9 will be substantially different. New model will be targeted to true photo enthusiasts, not just rich snapshooters and celebrities.
So , there are key differences from M8 and from any other digital crap:
1. No LCD. No preview, no more "shoot-look-delete" idiom . True photogs don't produce crappy shots, so there is nothing to delete.
2. RAW only. The camera produces true "digital negs", not just pics for blogs out of the box.
You need to work on them hard, to make shots look "snappy".
3. Advance lever is mandatory to prepare for the next shot.
4. Continious shooting is limited to 36 shots. You need to wait for 2-3 minutes to "reload" the camera.
5. To prepare for download negs to the computer, you need to crank manual rewind handle.
6. Software for conversion digital negs into JPEGs or other images is something special. It simulates development of the real film as close as possible. You can do it in "dummy" mode, just set the time and rotation, as you would for rotary processor. Or you can simulate manual agitation of the tank, and produce different negative density and contrast.
7. Especially for B&W enthusiasts, there will be a M9 BW Limited. A camera with special sensor, able to capture b&w images only. It has incredible dynamic range and shadow resolution, and buit-in system of color filters (red/green/yellow,etc).
Price isn't annoynced yet, but it's expected to be higher then regular M9.
p.s. it's a joke
