All;

I'm currently using a non-dedicated, non-TTL flash (Metz 34CS-2) flash for my M6 and M8.2 will a pretty high degree of success.

I just picked up a Metz 40MZ-1i flash with the standard foot, and was considering getting the Metz SCA 3502 module for the M8-M8.2. Will this allow me to use the flash fully TTL? Will the trigger voltage be compatible? Will this buy me anything with regard to exposure, camera/flash control?

Also, if I want to use the flash off the shoe with a TTL cord/cable, I heard that the Nikon TTL cord/cables have the same pin-out as the Leica.

Is that true? What do you think?

Thanks, Brad

Well, I might have gotten my question answered by Metz. Apparently, the 40MZ-1i does not have the necessary pre-flash ignition for Digital cameras. Apparently, (this explanation was probably over-simplified), but prior to the exposure, a digital-compatible TTL flash, (whether it be Leica, Metz or other), fires a series of pre-flashes to determine exposure, flash to subect distance and expose the sensor to light.

I guess I'll just continue using them in auto mode.

If you use the 3502 M5 adapter you will get the following features:
The flash recognizes the (coded) lens and will motorzoom
Automatic sync setting on the camera
Flash confirmation in the viewfinder

32MZ 3 w/ SCA3502 M4

32MZ 3 w/ SCA3502 M4

Jaap or anyone else: I just got a cheap 32MZ-3 and an SCA3502 M4 for my M8. Any recommendations about settings and how to use this combo? I've read on another thread something about needing to set the SCA to GN; do I set the mecablitz to TTL or Manual? Any other tips? Thanks!

Oh, another question: safe to assume that a coded lens is essential to making this combo do everything it's capable of doing, right?

Hmm, I tried a lot of things as well, but now ended up with the SF58.
Darn it's expensive and I don't use flash that often.
I could have bought a Voightlander 28mm for the same money I guess.
But I really like the flash, it works perfectly with the M8.
