Does anyone have any shots taken with this lens at full aperture? Trying to see if the bokeh signature of my copy is typical for this lens....

Is this the RF ZM lens?
I tried out the 45/2 G1/G2 lens in M mount.
It was a first class performance lens.
The ZM version may be similar.

45mm Planar f2 1/15 Neopan 400 in HC110. The scene metered to an e.i. of 800 with an incident reading beside the keyboard players face. Since I already knew what aperture and shutter speed I was going to use, the meter reading was just to tell me what the e.i. was. I processed it at e.i. 400 knowing I wanted the shadows to begin to drop out.
Actually I don't know good boken from bad boken since I only worry about the part of the image that is in focus.

This lens is incredible... A close friend has one and it simply mind-blowing in the detail and resolution. He has several camera lens combinations that he uses, but I can pick every photo that he has taken with the 45/2. I would almost buy a Contax G-series just to get that 45mm.

Raid, there's no ZM 45mm, just the 50mm f/2.
The only way to get this in M-mount is to get the conversion done like you tested a while back.
How are you getting used to the Contax G1 btw?

Hang on... the Zeiss 45/2 for the G-series can be converted to an M-mount... with full compatibility? I would like to hear more about this.

There's also a couple threads up here on the conversion, and Raid had a converted 28 and 45 on loan from Dirk from japanexposures that he did some tests with.
Ken Rockwell has an article up on the conversions as well, if that's your cup of tea.
The ergonomics seem a bit odd, but the lenses are great, I'm considering doing this w/ my 21 and 45.

The contax g 45/2 lens beats the leica summicron 50/2 lens.I also have to say that the biogon 21mm is much flare resistant than my 21/2,8 asph.!

So you will spend over $1300 to get the two lenses modified? It may be worth it if you are a Leica user.

Raid- I already have the lenses, and find myself mostly using my Leica, and leaving the G2/G1 at home more often than not. It will cost me LESS to convert the two lenses than to buy Leica-mount replacements (Unless I buy the CV lenses... which is an option, but I really love the zeiss...).
I have to say though, I've had the G2 out again the last couple weeks, and am remembering what I liked about it in the first place. (Fast instinctive operation, (mostly) well laid out controls, ergonomics, etc). So i'm "considering" the mod, but am by no means definitely going to do it. (the one big gripe for me on the contax was always the lack of a DOF scale...). It just pains me a little having two comparable systems, since whenever i'm using one...I know the other is just sitting there.

The M mount conversion of a Rollei mount Zeiss Planar 50mm/1.4 costs $180.
It would be nearly as good as the $750 Planar 45/2 at 2.0, and it would be much faster.

Now that would be the most stupid thing to do.
With that you losing the focus accuracy of the G2
