Compared to another M2, this one has more play and "jiggle" in the shutter speed dial. Can I tighten that up myself. Is that screw next to the "B" something I can loosen and adjust?

Also, at speeds 15 and 30 only, I hear a "bounce" after the shutter releases almost like a mirror slap on SLR's which I do not hear on my other vintage M's. Can this be normal?

The "bounce" is normal, don't worry about that.

I've read a post here somewhere on tightening the shutter speed dial, it seemed easy but involved removing that screw and tightening something under the dial.

I think you can:
unscrew the dial
reach a brass round wheel.
unscrew it
reach the "clicking" mechanism
try to clean it or to carefully adjust the spring.
Don't do it if you don't have good hands...
Good luck

What is the bounce? I don't hear it on my other M2 or M3.

Also, when the 1/2 and 1 second times are selected, the left margin of the shutter slowly disappears leftward which is doesn't happen on my other M's. Does this mean I need a CLA as I am concerned that it will affect exposure at slower speeds.

The 'bounce' noise you mention is the escapement mechanism on the slow speeds. It's normal, but maybe this one is just louder than you're used too – more worn maybe, or in need of lubrication?

The jiggle on the shutter speeds dial is the same thing my own M2 had when I bought it. I lived with it for a short while, but decided to have the camera fully serviced, which took care of that issue and one or two others.

I'd be tempted to run a quick film through your M2, trying to use the slow speeds in particular, and check for signs that they're off or that the shutter might be capping. That should tell you if a service is a necessity or a luxury.

Thanks Mr. Phillip. I will drop off the camera at Essex Camera for a CLA which is only 40 minutes from me. That would make me feel better knowing that everything was fully adjusted.

What is capping of the shutter?

Adjusting the tension on the shutter speed dial is very simple... no need to have it serviced for that.
