Same Model Forty Years Later

For awhile I've been thinking that it'd be so cool to do a photo shoot with some girl that I last photographed thirty or forty years ago. Tonight out of the blue I got an email from a guy who was wondering if I still had my negatives from back when I shot this cute 16 year old girl in 1968! Since then she'd grown her hair long but it was now a bob cut again like back then, and she still weighs the same, about 100 pounds. They live a couple hours north of here. I'm going to locate the contact sheets and see if I can locate the locations from back then.

Have any of you done anything like this?
 
I have one of my favorite shots from High School, freshman night (for me the the young lady). Wonder what ever happened to Sally Jones, lost track after HS, know she when to Alfred (now part of SUNY). Would love to shot her again. Doubt I will ever get the chance to. Have lots of other shots from the four years but that would be the one I would love to shoot again.

Interesting idea.

My nieces used to ask me to take photos of their little kids "just like the ones you took of me when I was small". The kids are no longer little, so I suppose I must stick around until the grand-kids arrive.

What I find neat about doing the blog is the number of people who have resurfaced out of the mists of time and contacted me after thirty or forty or more years. Nancy is the first one that lives nearby.

Well, not me personally. Bur it might be worth a reminder here that Bill Ganzel did a project like this:

"Dust Bowl Descent
by Bill Ganzel
University of Nebraska Press, 1984
ISBN: 080322107X (Hardcover)"

In the 1970s, he went out to re-photograph as many people as possible from the famous FSA photos of the 1930s. It's a terrific piece of work.
 
We had a school reunion a couple of months ago, and one of us who is a pro photographer copied head shots from a group pic and superimposed them on an old school pic. Pretty weird result.

You are the best!

Your blog brings back memories of my youth in Miami. The guy from Brownies like my Rolex GMT when I was 18 or so. My Dad told him there was one in a pawnshop for $200. My dad bought it on Al's word. Unfortunately the watch was the first edition without crown guards. I think he passed on the deal. Either he or my Dad were stuck with a watch that is today worth upwards of $20,000. Truth.

Is he still alive?

He did a second photo just prior to his death, for a cancer charity, she posed after radical surgery for breast cancer in a bid to empower other suffers. I can’t find that image at the mo, I’ll look later on a proper computer, it was a beautiful pic
 
Al; I photographed my sister-in-law nude (at her request) back in '81. I recently asked her to pose again as it's almost 30 years later. She politely declined and said she just doesn't have the desire to pose again. She's put on a few pounds but still looks good.
