Medium Format ... long may it live!

Welcome! - and what a shot to start with! Beautiful capture. I'd love to go to Angkor Wat one day, although I would take my 'blad, I'm not sure I would be brave enough to just take it on its own!!
 
There was recently a thread about three dimensionality in 35mm lenses. In that thread, some said that look was easier to find in MF. The pictures in this thread sure illustrate the correctness of that view. Many thanks to all of you for this wonderful thread.

It also made me go looking at pictures from Tessar and Novar lenses on ZI folders, here and at flckr. As much as one can tell on our screens, it seems as though the Novars exhibit that three-dimensionality more than the Tessars.

Thanks for your comments on my first posted pic. I've printed that picture in a 16 x 20 format on a slightly warm tone fiber-based paper and it looks so much better than the small-sized scan I posted here. My posted picture looks so small, but I was trying to keep it under the limits of the forum's policies.
What especially pleased me about that picture was that it was totally spontaneous. I saw the kids standing there. Camera's aperture was already set, so I just quickly focussed and took the picture. I've done a lot of work in this area using my Hasselblads. For that trip, I didn't even carry a back-up camera or filters or tripod or anything, not even a camera bag. Just the old 500c and a Weston.
Congratulations, Vince, on your show opening at the Rayco center. Looks like you had a memorable night.
There certainly are a lot of lovely pictures on this thread.

That's it - in the sculpture garden at the National Gallery of Australia. Nice place to visit, except that they have now banned photography inside the gallery.

Go ahead ... torment me with Hasselblad pics while I wait for my 500CM body to arrive from the US ... that I won't have a lens for anyway! 😛

Back on the beans and rice to accumulate the funds for some glass now! 😀
 
I drifted away from 35mm for a while and then drifted away from MF when I started using a Leica but now I'm enjoying both format together and I find they make excellent companions in the field.
