Lens and accessories recommendations for my "new" M2

first, congrats on ur purchase, it's a really good price for such a nice camera!

the dual range is a really really good lens. it's my favourite since getting it. problem is, i've gone through 3 to find a good one. usual problems are hazing and scratches on the rear element's coating due to improper cleaning.

i'd suggest a version 4 35mm summicron if you can find one. for tele i'd go for a 90mm tele-elmarit, the thin one, for stealth.

Zoomp, you might want to continue looking around the internet, especially here on the forums or even the bay. To me, 850$ for even a minty DR is just a tad expensive. If i remember correctly, there were a few 50 crons with built in hoods going for 700-800$ here on RF some time ago. But then again, if you want retro, the dr or rigid is good. (but not for 850$usd)

btw, nuts on clubsnap tend to bump up the prices like siao. (i kena once) As such, do your homework before shopping yeah?

if you are not in need of a fast lens I strongly recommend the CV 35 pancake 2. performs very well indeed and is tiny (as well as half the price of the ZM 35 2.8). The ZM likely has a slight edge, but not one (according to my use the the pancake II and the biogon f2) that will matter much. I agree with Tom A that a 35 is a very good place to start with a 35mm RF. IMHO, it is a FAR better place to start than 50mm inless you intend most of your shots to be of people. The 35 can do it all: street, landscape, cityscape etc. great jack of all trades. After that, something wider and one longer would suit, like 25 + 50.
 
A reminder about the close-up "advantage" of the D.R. 'cron. It DOES NOT EXIST if you base it on area covered A 90mm lens at its closest focusing distance covers exactly the same area as the D.R. Summicron with the eyes in place. A 90 doesn't require you to stop and put the eyes in place, and you can buy a black 90.

it does as u'll only need one DR cron instead of a 50 and a 90. 🙂 a very valid point nonetheless..
 
Bought a CV 50 f2.5 instead cos' it's cheap. Also gotten a VC straps but noticed it doesn't sit well with the zhou casing.

Speaking of contrast, you'll have it in the pictures from the CV 50/2.5.
For a small, inexpensive lens, I find that it's built very well and handles nicely.
I use one in my small kit and like it with color film.

Congratulations on acquiring your M2. It looks really nice. Also looks like the origianal M2/M3 flash terminals have been exchanged for M4 flash terminals, which are more practical. Once upon a time (about 1964) I bought a 35mm f2.5 Nikkor in Leica screwmount for my Leica IIf. I liked it so well that when I bought my M4, I bought screw to bayonet adapters for my lenses. That little 35mm lens is far and away my most used lens over the years. I can get closer to my subjects using it than a 50 mm lens. The 35mm f2.5 Nikkor in LTM may be the same lens as is often used on the Nikonos underwater cameras - in a different mount, of course. Good success with your M2.

Just swapped the 2.5 for a VC 1.5 for faster f stops.

Here's some new pics. The quality for the 2.5 is indeed very high.
