I am considering this.
Has anyone done it? For how much?
Thanks

A complete VF swap by Leica NJ was $1400- from a .72 to a .58 in an MP.

Wow--I was considering this exact VF swap.

I think an independent tech like DAG does it for around $300, that is just the upgrade to the MP finder with no magnification change (unlike Bob, above).
You're in the UK, give CRR in Luton a call and see what they charge.

One of the few ways to get a BP .58 MP. If you get a deal on a .72 this is way cheaper than a la carte. They won't make a fancy top-plate unless you go a la carte though.
I'm not sure if Leica NJ has a new MP tech yet, he retired in July.

are you asking for the price of the flare free MP upgrade or a different magnification finder?
i just got my M7 estimate in the mail for the MP upgrade and it is $355.
i emailed them a while back about switching out a .85 viewfinder for a .58 one and the cost was about $1400.

ps--the turnaround time is 6-8 weeks but they are also throwing in a full CLA and replacing the DX reader free of charge.

Yep, the config BP MP I looked at was a little over $5000
Maybe after January when I get my year end allowance
I should check with Sherry Krauter--DAG still has my Canon 50/.95--working his genius magic

Both Sherry and Gerry Smith at Kinderman told me they couldn't get the non .72 VF's very easily. Had to send in the old one first if I'm remembering right.

If it is about flare, there is a cheap solution with a small polarizer, it can be done together with a cla and costs about 40$. On the downside you lose some clarity in the finder.
