I am thinking of getting a soft release for my m6ttl and m8. Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance.

Soft releases are cool and if you don't like it you only wasted about $20. I prefer the TA softie but I'm sure there are othe good ones.

I turn my own - so I get just what I want, but certainly would'nt spend $20 on one!.Soft releases are cool and if you don't like it you only wasted about $20. I prefer the TA softie but I'm sure there are othe good ones.

My M5s need red dots!
Tom Abrammson's softies work the best for me. I can press the shutter release button with the edge of my fingertip and manage exposures of 1/8th of a second. Once you have them in one body, the others need it too, so buy several.

Not everyone has lathe machines lying around to make our own.

Yeah, I'm sure I'd waste way more then $20 in raw materials before I got it right, not to mention the equipment needed.
TA Classic softie doesn't leave my M5, and in the one instance that it fell off I had ordered one and it was already put in the mail before the first one eventually turned up, so now I have a spare.
Great speedy service.

The TA products are great. I used one on all my M cameras for awhile.
But I have stopped using them.
Too many accidental exposures. Okay, just turn off the camera you say, but who remembers to do that every time?

Ah!....time for the monthly softie thread again!, perhaps it would save a lot of 'writer's cramp' - if we just repeated last months offerings!

Now, if I could only find the off switch on my M3

Maybe this is a silly question but can someone please link me to where I can buy a TA softie?

TA as well. I was disappointed when I remembered that my M7ii cannot use a soft release. Whenever I get my M4 I will most certainly get one. About accidental exposures and shutting camera off... Just don't wind the shutter!!! Works for me every time!

never really understood purpose of soft release, normal Leica release is so "soft" already. but that said, I never tried one either. perhaps my eyes would open if had a chance to try

TA Softies are the best -- I love them -- have them on all my M's -- and they do make a difference...

maybe I didn't search with the correct words but I did do a thread search on "leica soft release" and nothing came up. Didn't mean to be a burden on this forum.

Yes (sorry Dave) I use TA for M3 and M2. To be honest when I first got them I thought that they were a bit of a waste . Alot of money for something that looked like a drawing pin.l
In use you start getting interesting shots of the ground, inside the bag in fact anything really. They go off if you so much look at them. You think ...what the hell. Then two weeks ago I lost one and right away felt the difference and it didn`t feel right. Now I`m not saying that they are indispensable but I have ordered a replacement straight away.Trouble is Peter Walnes has run out of stock so hurry up Tom. If anyone can come up with a suggestion to keep them in place I`d like to know.
