I have a 12586 which is for the E43 Summilux 50 and is marked so.
Yep, I stand corrected, i have the 12585 and 12585H
The 12585 has all 6 listed 35 3.5 2.8 and 2 and 50 3.5 2.8 and 2. The other one is the 12585H, on that one just 5 are listed the 35 f2 is missing, in all other respects they are identical

The 35f2 came out in 1958 - so the non-35f2 marked hoods are probably prior to that.

Stewart,
I have my hood in my hand. 12585H Leitz Wetzler Germany
2.0, 2.8, 3.5
50 & 35
As for unscrewing the hood: I can see a seam but it doesn't budge. I don't want to force it. It might bend.

I have had hoods marked with several different combinations of 35 and 50mm lenses including the Summarons and 50mm Elmar. I think that when these vented reverse flare hoods first came out in the mid nineteen-sixties they listed for about $7 each. There was a plastic cap made that fit over the reversed-on-the-lens hoods. They were notched for the two squeeze tabs. I also have an almost flat plastic cap with a groove around it that gets clipped in place on the reversed hood. For 90 and 135mm lenses try to find an ancient IUFOO lens hood. It's made out of thicker metal that the later numbered hood and has two ridges around it to give additional stiffness. It has the same reversable double clip as the later version. On the down side you're not likely to find one of thes nearly fifty year old hoods in pristine condition if that's a consideration.

I believe I used that on my old 50mm f/2 back in the 90s. If I remember correctly, you can turn it around and put it on your lens backwards when storing it.
You can only reverse the hood on the 50mm - on the 35mm it hits the focus tab before the prongs reach the front rim.

Edit: There's also a special cap that fits the back of the reversed shade.

Further to my previous post....
I am reunited with my 35 summicron and find the hood marked 12504, for 35 f/1.4 and 35 f/2. It splits to allow thin filters or just glass removed from filters to be dropped in and screwed together again - handy!
Not the same hoods you are all talking about though.
