FYI. For those that are going to use it on the M8x, Adorama has the 27mm UV/IR filter here;

Yup that's where I got mine.
I picked up 2 B&W, a "normal" UV and an "ir cut486".
Unfortunately, the threads on the "ir cut" might be stripped or mfturing defect
. I can't screw the lens shade on the ir cut filter, but no problems with the UV filter.
Too much of a pain to send it back to the USA. I'll just live with it

Another problem with the B&W filters.
Also noted that if you screw the filters on firmly to the lens that this inhibits the aperture ring from turning.
The screw length on the B&W filter is a bit on the long side, so you can't screw it in all the way without making it difficult to turn the aperture ring.
Solution is to put a spacer (or blue tack) so you don't need to turn the filter all the way in.
Sorry for the poorly worded message, but for those of you that have this lens, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Cosina have intoduced a 27mm filter in conjunction with the new Heliar. Seems like this may be the one to go for. Anyone bought one yet??

Rob,
I got my filter today and the front threads are fine. But, I understand about the deep threads camera side. I am womdering if I could lap the filter down, or maybe use the bands from my daughters braces to reduce the screwin depth?

Curious question: why would you not pay $50 more for the 50/2?

As it has been written elsewhere, the CV50 3.5 Heliar when introduced in 2001 as part of a Bessa T Special Edition was tested by Popular Photography and found to be as sharp as any lens they had ever tested. The CV50 2 has had only so-so reviews. Sometimes speed isn't everything.

Enjoy Life.
I actually have both lenses and they are quite different. The 2.0 does have a speed advantage so if you need it, you've got it. I also feel it's a bit underrated as well.
The 3.5 is something special, a lens that has a little "something" that many others do not. It's sharpness is stunning as well, something nearly every review has mentioned. I believe Tom A once mentioned that it has a "roundness" to the image... an interesting way of putting it and quite accurate. The images are just "different" somehow.
I can recommend both lenses, unique in their own way.

Rob,
I already had the CV 50 f/2 Col.(recently sold here) A great lens in it's own right. Plus, I have 2 50 Col. 'Crons f/2, LTM and M Mount. But, I have always lusted after the CV 50 f/3.5 version. I can use it on my 2 IIIc's, M3, and my M8.
The way I am now shooting, I don't need the speed of fast glass. I shoot a lot of travel pics, bright sun and white/tan skin, so I can get away with slower lenses and film. When I need high ISO/low light, I pick up my Nikon DSLR's. I only have one contractual shoot left, next August and I am being allowed to shoot it my way. I've got free rein for this shoot, 35mm Film and Digital is the way I am going out.
For the last 30+ years, I have done it their way, and with this final job, I will be able to shoot for me, the way I want. Whew!

Hi Art,
I'm using the Heliar on my new Bessa R3A, M6, & M8 in brighter outside lighting as well.
For indoors, I'll stick to the 50 Cron or the Canon f/1.4.
(Now I finally have enough cameras to cover all the 50 mm lenses I have
)
For the deep threads, perhaps I can locate a thin "O Ring" at a hardware store... Stuff like that is sometimes a bit hard to find in HK, may have to wait until I visit Canadian Tire (you got it in Canada) in the spring.
