The release latch on my M8 is loose and hangs down when I shoot (or lay the camera down). I was in Austin a week ago and took it by Precision Camera and one of the repairmen at the counter took the assembly apart and tried to make an adjustment but nothing worked.
Anyone have any other suggestions, other than sending it to Leica?

Garcia,
Same problem here, though I did'nt get mine fixed yet, mainly because I don't want to be without a camera. (The M8 is my only camera at the moment)
When I asked for advice some weeks back, I was told that any repairman should be able to fix cheap and quickly.
So, before sending your camera to Leica, probably you would want to go and check another camera store... (If there is any other located near to you)
By the way:
I "solved" the problem by taping the release latch to the plate. Only problem is, I've got to remove the tape everytime I want to change batteries or sd-cards...
All the best,
Niels

Thanks Niels. I should have added that I use a small strip of gaffer tape to hold it in place. According to the camera repairman at Precision Camera (in Austin) most latches like that have a spring washer that can be adjusted but the M8 doesn't have one. It uses friction alone I guess and I am shooting enough to wear out the friction ;>)
