I had one of these a few years ago and when I look back through my negs I wonder why the hell I sold it. Love the look in B&W.

It has that vibrational bokeh that some lenses suffer from; makes my eyes water. What lens is this? I'm not familiar with the nomenclature 40/1.4 sc.

i had one before also and can't seem to recall why i sold it either.
Very nice, Joe. The 40 is underappreciated. Well except by those that appreciate it.

And this was without the hood?
Seems you don't even need that honorary X-mas hood, Joe!
Excellent shot!

GASitis.. finally cured?
That's nice Joe. I loved the negs I used to get with Reala 100 and B&W (mostly the APX 100). I sold mine mostly because I did not like the focal length, at times it behaves too much like a 35mm (which is not in mine list of lenses again).

Great shot sir! Was this taken at 1.4 I presume?
This is one of the lenses I'm considering for my soon to arrive CL. For those who have this and the 40 Summi, can any post a photo showing their size difference? Is this larger than it? Also, how do you folks compare this to the 40 Summi in terms of handling and rendition?

At first, I found the 'cron to be a bit harder to focus than the nokton. Particularly because the focusing tabs are different, and the 'cron is tiny! I just wish the tab on the nokton was on the 'cron, but once you get used to using that raised bump of concentric circles on the front of the tab, focusing is easy.
Considering I don't scrutinize image quality, I've found the nokton to be slightly more contrasty overall. Especially when shooting into a light source or strong back lighting. The nokton does have modern coatings, where the 'cron does not. The 'cron tends to be equally as contrasty in most situations.

I like the color rendition. This would be a nice lens for the Leica CL.

There doesn't appear to be much difference in size between the 2, considering the extra stop in speed.
Also, your last shot back alley: bokeh somewhat reminds me of the Cosina 55 1.2 K mount.

Thanks for posting. Everyone talks about its black and white renditions, but I think it is something special for colour as well.

Fantastic color and lighting in the second one, Joe. Since I bought one of your Rokkor 40/2s, please keep me in mind if you ever decide to sell this one.
