When is a Nippon Kogaku lens not a Nikon lens?

Ebay must be run by a complete bunch of idiots these days.

I wonder if anyone is going to step up to make a run for its business.

When I sold on Ebay, years ago, they were not this petty. Or is stupid a better word?
 
Based on the below eBay was right WHEN this lens was made. However they should have allowed to name Nikon to stay since in reality it is a Nikon brand lens. Someone simply did not do the research..


Founded in 1917 as Nippon Kōgaku Kōgyō Kabushikigaisha (日本光学工業株式会社 "Japan Optical Industries Corporation"), the company was renamed Nikon Corporation, after its cameras, in 1988.
 
That is stupid. Though @ the time that lens was made, wasn't "Nikon" still just the name of Nippon Kogaku's cameras (like Leitz's "Leica" & Zeiss Ikon's "Contax"), not the company?

Nikon started using the NIKON name on lenses long before 1988. I think it was closer to 1968 that they put "Nikon" on the Nikkor lenses. And of course, Nikon has been on the camera bodies since the 40s.

By the same logic, Leitz lenses should not be allowed to be listed as being Leica lenses.

Agreed.

However this lens does not have Nikon on it anywhere from the photos posted. Therefore eBay considers it a breach of their rules. I suspect though that someone who has no real knowledge of Nikon simply filed a complaint claiming this poster was a scammer trying to pass off a cheap imitation as the real thing..
 
Ebay normally does this when someone reports it to them.

Rather silly. The lenses were marked Nikkon Kogaku for sure, but the RF cameras had a rather large and visible Nikon on their front for everyone to see. The Leica camera and lenses were not made by Leica neither but by Leitz, is eBay taking action and renaming all the Leitz made lenses? Leave to them to remake the world according to "market" solutions.

there must have been another issue with the auction, i have a Nikon s-2 on ebay right now, because of this discussion, i also put Nippon Kogaku in the title, ebay has not contacted me about the auction,
