These cameras are addicting. I decided to hold onto both of them for now, not only that, but I won a couple more on an internet auction. Both of these guys seem to work really well. I got some good pics out of the CC, and am halfway through a roll of film in the CCN:

Very nice find Frontman.
If you ever decide to sell the ccn let me know, it is the only model of the electro's I am missing from my collection.

I finished off the roll of film today, I'll scan the negs tomorrow. Mrwestphal, I may be interested in selling the CCN at some time in the future, or I might be able to find one for you, they come up quite often on the local auctions here in Japan. I'm still waiting for my GX to show up, hopefully it'll get here before New Year's.

I found another CC in a shop, but the shutter doesn't appear to work, it may or may not be something simple. I'll see if they can come down on the price a bit.

Frontman, contact cleaning in battery compartment could help (not mandatory).

From discussions I have a feeling that CC model is failing more often than G35 with gold plated contacts. Or maybe we hear more about failed CC's while those with working ones don't post much.

The problem with the CC in the shop is that the shutter will not click at all, which it will normally do even when there is no battery in the camera. It is wound, but the button won't release the shutter, and it won't wind any more.

The contacts looked clean in both of my current cameras, but one still needed a little cleaning before the test light would work.

It's priced at 2000 yen ($20), so I might pick it up just in case I need parts, or to sell as a fixer-upper.

Okay, the first roll from the CCN was a success. I got these pics yesterday, the first is a pic of my bike in front of Lemon Camera in Ginza, the next one is at a park in my neighborhood.

As far as I can tell, the camera works wonderfully well, even better than I expected. I put another roll of Acros in it (my film of choice for this camera, due to the quick lens and low top shutter speed), I plan to get a lot of shots out of in on New Years Day.

Hey Frontman,
Looks like you have a keeper there for sure!
If you should go back into that shop and see a CC or CCN (as my CC is non-working and kinda tattered) I would love to try and make some arrangement with you if you feel the deal is worth buying. working models are real nice but as it is just a collection I do have several non-working models that look great!
keep me posted.

thanks,

Doug

That's just plain mean of you, having "2" M5's and not sharing!
You almost tempted me as I have a perfect and working GL and really don't want to lose it.
Have you checked the "bay" yet? I believe I seen a GL this week for sale??
Yup, I just checked and there is one and it's on your side of the pond even! sitting at 22 pounds right now and ends in about 3.5 days.
I would post a link but I don't think were suppose to do that here right?

P.S. would you consider selling one of those M5's?;)

I just realized GL has rectangular RF patch. Somehow more appealing to me ( I know, "diamond" sounds nicer than rectangle :D).

...... I have a perfect and working GL ....;)

Was that the one you got from me recently? Someone with the same username won the one I listed. I hope it was you and it is serving you well. Had I known you are here too, I would have forget ebay and listed it here. Oh well.

I had that GL and a GX, after some thinking, I kept the GX as I hardly ever use 1600.

Enjoy.

I have not shot film through my CC, but cant help thinking that the 2 blade Aperture arrangement of the CC must have some influence on the bokeh?
Has anyone got any shots that show this?
This is why I prefer the GX. The daddy of all Electro`s in my humble opinion

The shutter has 2 blades, as does the aperture, but the 2 sets of blades are designed in a way to work together. It's nothing fancy, but I like the simplicity of the design; fewer parts = fewer things which can go wrong. I'm still waiting for my GX to arrive, so I haven't had a chance to compare it to the CC and CCN.

Here's a wide-aperture shot from my CCN

Hey Bawang!
I don't know for sure? what is your evilbay user name? maybe I did??? mine is the same just about everywhere.
What a small world if it was;)

Frontman (or anybody else), is a little 'play' (especially as I close focus) with your focusing ring standard? I have a CC, too, and the focusing ring seems a little loose. I'm not sure what to expect since it is my first and only Yashica. I bought mine at a consignment shop ($7 and change) thinking I purchased a paper weight. Little did I realize what a little gem I found!

The focus ring shouldn't have play at all. Also try shooting it at 2.8 and 4 and taste the bokeh, it's quite amazing :)
