I want a 35mm f/1,2 Nokton Or F/1.4, not sure on the body...R3 or R2...
Does the .7x VF of the R2 have whats needed to focus at f/1.2? Or just use the R3 40mm frame and don't get all up in a wad about it. Right now, I don't plan on adding more lenses.
Just want a fast Film RF for candid street and indoor candid family stuff for any time of day or night. It's so much easier to carry a RF with a wide lens and no flash, than a larger DSLR with wide lens.
I have come into an inheritance, and need to spend it
.
I am completing my DSLR outfit with 3 primes and battery grip for my K20d (21/L, 77/L, DA 100mm Macro)..But I want a RF too. I have a film scanner, so cost will be low, about $7.00 a roll total.

Personally, I'd go with a used Ikon and the 1,2/35 Nokton. Between the huge and uncluttered VF, wide baseline and the Nokton you'll be in heaven. Just keep in mind that the Nokton is a touch on the larger, heavier side (though nothing to worry about). I find the character and bokeh of this lens so much nicer than the 1,4/35 Nokton. But if size and weight are important, the latter would make a nice combo as well, albeit slightly slower.
I have looked at the Zeiss also. And it is still on my list...but so is used M6ttl, Not sure on what I want to spend yet, but $2k is not unreasonable for what I want.
Total size may be factor, so the 35/1.4 is more compact. and what I read about both, the extra stop may be the real difference, since the IQ seems par for both.

You may find it difficult to focus the 35/1.2 up close and wide open on the R* bodies, given the short base length. The ZI or a Leica M would probably be better. Just a thought.

Jezz why not stick with the program get a good clean M6 and 40/2 Cron or Rokkor or 40/1.4 VC and call it done for $14-1500? At least it will be small enough to carry more often and the image quality will be significantly different from the K20D. The difference between f/1.2 and 1.4 or 2 means that your 1.4/2 images will be in focus more often.
I used to think lens speed was important for low light but I was wrong. Shooting in low light w a f/2 or f/2.8 will often produce sharper, less missed focus pictures than the uber fancy f/1.4 or 1.2. The extra stopping down helps a lot, and once your shutter speed drops so low you can't shoot handheld, it's usually only for a few moments before it gets really dark.

I guess, that's why I included the R3..with the 1:1 VF..but, still the same base, just a bigger image.
The Zeiss looks nice. at $1618.00, I'd get the 35/1.4 to keep it under $2k.

The M6 is on my list too.(about the same as a new Z1)...Used for sure!.. But I want a 35mm, not the 40mm any f/stop.

No. They were just the first run of the sliver Ikons. I think the serial number denotes this. I wouldn't buy one as Zeiss has made a few improvements to the reliability of the cameras since. Better to get a new one if possible.

shphoto-gmbh is quite expensive ...
Why not a M6(TTL) + any kind of 35mm Summicron-M ? Should be available for < 2.000USD and is the most versatile set-up.

What is difference between the M6 and M6TTL? The Leica Sight has no info on out of production cameras

Not worth the price difference for the Flash TTL and larger SS dial IMO.
The M6 .72 seems to be the popular VF...and a good one used is under $1,500 in LN.

The M6 "Classic" is a sweet rig for sure.
Do you ever use aperture priority? If not, that opens up your choices quite a bit.
Well, I am considering it, and the M7 at KEH is just under $1,900 in EX+, Not sure yet.. But, the M6 seems a bit more a traditional body than the M7... Z1 is the bargain, But a few $100 more gets a M7 in good condition too. I guess, it is a choice of "Leica" or not for the body. I have only owned one Leica, an M5 back in the late 80s for a year or so. So I am familiar with "Leica Quality"
