The lens head of the 90/2.2 Thambar unscrews, so I'm guessing its possible to use it on the Visoflex.

Does anyone know the necessary combination of adapters and focusing helical? This combo is not in any Visoflex reference materials that I can find.

Thanks
Stephen

Dear Stephen,

I'd love to know too. I suspect the only answer is a custom-made version of OEPO (intermediate ring between OTZFO and the old chrome 90/2) or, cheaper and easier, a custom ring for a bellows. Like you, I can't find it in any of my books and catalogues. I suspect that the official adapter was never made, because you couldn't get infinity (or indeed reasonable portrait distances) with a PLOOT or Viso 1 + 90mm, and by the time the Viso II came along the Thambar was almost two decades out of production and very rare anyway.

Cheers,

R.

Dear Stephen and Roger,
From what I have read in old Leica literature I don't think Leitz intended the normal Thambar lens to be used on the Visoflex because they supplied a separate Thambar fitted with a short mount for specific use on the Visoflex 1.

(I have seen an example of this special short mount Thambar mounted on an Italian Rectaflex camera).

Leitz did produce a separate short mount (COOTL) for the Thambar so that the lens head could be used on their Universal Copying Device but whether this combination could be used on the Visoflex 1 is not stated but I would doubt that it was if Leitz already provided the special short mount Thambar for speciific use with the Visoflex 1.

Thanks very much indeed, though it must surely have been PLOOT rather than Viso I (a trivial matter as both are the same thickness) unless the mount was introduced long after the lens was discontinued -- which would be fascinating as I thought the last Thambars were made in about about 1941. Could you possibly be so kind as to provide a cataogue or other reference for the short (PLOOT) mounted Thambar? Presumably the head could be interchanged between COOTL and the PLOOT mount as well as the standard TOODY.

Cheers,

R.

I was able to mount the Thambar lens head perfectly onto the LEIHEK tube.

Anyone know how that can mount onto a Visoflex?

OR if there are any other accessories with the same threads as the LEIHEK which could be used?

Stephen

Thanks. Indeed, Paul-Henry's book has the 'Univ. Repro Thambar 9cm' on page 224 (plate 156a-b) but no reference to a Viso mount.

I wish you a speedy recovery from your illness!

Cheers,

R.
