I've used my contax g2 in light rain without problems,@ sea with 35/40 °c many days without any problem!!Now I'd find some info about rf645 in strong Rain/ Snow (@ seaside no problems at all)

I don't go out if it's raining but if it's slightly raining and I'm already out, amen brother! Of course I tend not to expose whatever camera to the rain, but it's plain common sense...

On Friday I used my Canon 40D with the 28-135 kit lens, to photograph one of the vets (where my wife works) TB testing cattle for their website. An awful day with driving rain. When I got back inside an hour later, the lens fogged internally, which scared the living daylights out of me. 10 minutes later it was clear...
I guess this is another reason for buying 'L' lenses

I kept my camera covered and only took it out to shoot. That was when I was using Nikon F2 / FM / FM2n
Only light rain for my Nikon D50, and so far I have not taken RF (Fed 2, Zorki 1, Kiev 4) out in the rain.
I was more worried when I was taking photos in a bakery (when bakers were actually making bread), and changing lenses ...

(and the colorful reflections, nice shot).
I picked up a rain cover for the slrs, have used it w/ some success. Rangefinders saw some shoot and cover action but having a tinge of OCD I bought a Nikonos V, now I can shoot in the rain with reckless abandon.

I live in the Pacific Northwest where it rains a lot. If you didn't take pictures in the rain you would be missing a lot of picture taking days. Also, rain adds a different dimension to things that you don't want to miss out on. I own a few inexpensive cameras and lenses that are my rain cameras. A minolta SRT 101 and Minolta 7S, bought very cheaply on ebay. I use these cameras when its raining and I don't worry too much about damaging them. One of the few good things about the takeover of film by digital is the truly depressed prices of many high quality film cameras.

One of the main reasons I ended up with leicas was the fact you can beat the crap out of them and they still work just fine. I spend a lot of time outdoors....last weekend i got pretty soaked. I did not go out of my way to get the M4P wet but I did use it non stop and jsut wiped it down as needed.

Many years ago, I bought an inexpensive Nikon EM to use in the rain instead of my more expensive Nikon F2.
However, I discovered that the EM electronics stopped working when it got wet.
I now use an underwater camera (Nikonos) when I need to shoot in the rain or in any other hostile environment.

I occasionally used my 35mm film cameras in light rain. Sometimes that didn't end well: I shot with my Canon A-1 at the WTC site in NYC in the weeks after the 9/11 attack, when there was a persistent drizzle, and the combination of moisture and dust nearly wrecked the film transport mechanism.
Now that I shoot mostly with an R-D1, I don't take it out in the rain for fear of what moisture will do to the electronics.

M2 in the rain...ok. M8 in the rain... I'm afraid. Fellinto a lake with my Leica CL and it still worked after that... but not the meter.

I try to have my camera with me at all times, in a Domke waxed canvas bag. If it's raining and I don't have an umbrella I'll get it out only if I think the shot will be worth it. Of course if I'm prepared and actually have an umbrella, which I normally do, I'll happily do a balancing act to keep myself and my gear dry. I tend to baby my gear but I still use it.

Ambitious, but rubbish
I don't usually shoot in the rain, but after spending $20 on a waterproof disposable for a trip to a water park, I purchased a Nikon Action Touch for vacation. Completely waterproof, nice lens, and also only $20 from eBay.
